This buggy was originally built by S&N Fab for trail wheeling and WE Rock comps. It was sold to Steven O’Neal and made it to Georgia for several years. I bought it from Steven in May 2008 and it was exactly as S&N had built it (air shocks, low ride height/belly and minimal uptravel). I went through the buggy to fix and replace weak links or parts that did not work well. With the help of Essentially Offroad the car was modified and prepped for Ultra4 Racing. The makeover included replacing/adding the following: motor, torque converter, steering system, rod ends, AL links, 2.5†coilovers, air bumps & mounts, bladder type fuel cell, GPS/communications gear, pumper, rear radiator/dual fans, front tubework, rear tire carrier, new dash, shock mounts, hi-lift mount, etc.
The buggy qualified 9th in the 2009 KOH LCQ and crossed the finish line in the big race about 30 minutes past the cutoff time. I qualified for KOH 2011 at SMORR in 11th place and we DNF’d in KOH this past February. We had moved up 20+ spots before breaking a motor mount that took us out of the race. Buggy was a featured vehicle in Issue 28 (March/April) of CRAWL Magazine, which included KOH coverage and the WOD Blower Buggy on the cover. The body took a beating at KOH and has since been redone by BlueTorch Fab and the broken motor mount as been repaired and strengthened.
It is 100% race ready and meets all Ultra4 tech requirements. On the other hand, if you want a great trail rig, drop the spare tire, spares, hi-lift jack, and all the communications gear and have fun. It is the best technical rock crawling rig I have ever been around and it loves vertical climbs. With all the shock tuning with Bilstein we have gotten it pretty fast in the whoops also. All the heavy fab work was done by either S&N Fab or Essentially Offroad. I only performed minor fab and repair work myself. It has a few dented tubes and rock rash here and there. They may be fixable with a spreader/hi-lift; I have just never tried. If nothing else a few new pieces of tube could be added, none of the dented tubes are significant. I am very anal with maintenance and prep, so this buggy has been gone through multiple times.
I have a full spread sheet and all receipts for the modifications I have made. I do not have to sell this rig; it can sit in my garage for as long as it needs to. I have it listed because I hate seeing it sit in my basement and not get used. I am looking for a more family friendly rig and DD, so if you have a 4-door JK in nice condition I could possibly do a partial trade with some cash on the buyers part. Otherwise I only want cash and serious buyers that want a very nice rig that has been meticulously maintained.
If the buyer wants it race ready as it sits the price is $40,000 OBO. If the buyer just wants a trail rig I can remove the GPS, radio, intercom, pumper, jack, etc. and reduce the price to $38,500. Feel free to PM or email me at [email protected]
