• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

Sold/Expired The Moto-Gote 2x2 Project

Just a shot in the dark but check the valve adjustments, just wondering if it's a vacuum or cam overlap from valve to tight?

Well, I finally just ordered a complete new carburetor and........ NO CHANGE AT ALL. It runs EXACTLY like it did before, bogs at full throttle and will die if you don't let off. It has to be fuel related because choke it and it will rev all day long. Also, when it bogs, squirting gas in the carb makes it rev again. Problem is I have even gone so far as to completely drill out the main jet...... still no change..... still lean at full throttle . I have thoroughly checked for vacuum leaks at the carb/intake tube/head gaskets. PLEASE HELP!!!

Your problem is still jetting. Drilling a hole out in the jet isn't exactly a great way to see if it's a lack of fuel that's causing the bog... You could have easily went too large and she was rich as all get out.

What does the plug look like after a hard run ?

I'm still willing to bet 2-3 sizes on the main and 1 on the pilot will fix it.

Already checked the valve lash, little tight so I loosened it a couple thousands..... no change.

Every time I have pulled the plug it has been black and sooty, but not wet, which suggests rich I think.
I totally agree that drilling it out is a crappy test, but it definately wasnt rich because it would rev when squirting fuel in it.

I can fine tune the idle and everything up to about 1/2-3/4 throttle with moving the needle up/down and adjusting the air mix. I was getting rich/lean conditions as one would expect, but above 3/4 throttle all bets are off..... lean no matter what.

Well guys, I finally got this taken care of a few months ago, and she has been running like a scolded dog since then. Huge shout out to Jesse's ATV and Offroad in Union Grove. Jesse made a restrictor plate behind the air filter, rejetted the carb, and worked some other kind of magic on it. All this in a couple hours for $60 and it runs like a dream.

The reason I haven't posted about this lately is my wife and I moved to Washington state with 7 animals and bought a house built in 1925, so I have been pretty busy with all that. People here are really cool, not as many libtards as I was expecting, so that is refreshing. Lots of fun outdoor stuff to do, and TONS of places to ride. I'm still getting used to having tens of thousands of acres of public land to play on.

Anyway, here are a few vids my wife took of me tooling around on the Cowlitz River beach. The Gote was pretty much unstoppable...... until it broke. The one tiny section of #41 chain from the engine to the jackshaft broke. Apparently #50 chain isn't overkill after all.
