As much as I want to go watch Kings of the Hammers sometime, the race is so spread out it seems difficult to watch much of the race without staying at Hammertown for most of it. So after spending an entire Saturday last October watching the Live coverage of the Nationals (may or may not have had it on during a wedding reception), wife and I started talking about going to the Ultra4 Nationals event in Reno this October. We will be out there Wednesday-Monday of race week.

The nice thing about the Reno event is you can watch the entire race from the grandstands at Wild West Motorsports Park near Sparks, Nevada (https://www.wildwestmotorsportspark.com/). Plus with this setup you can walk through the pit area to really get a good look at the rigs and meet drivers etc.

I have included a few highlight videos from the 2016 Nationals to give you a better idea of the setup there.

So with all of that out of the way, anyone else going to be at the races???

Any recommendations for things to do other than watching the races on Friday and Saturday???

Thanks for adding. Anyone else going out for the races?

Also any recommendations on things to do out that way?

Go to Virginia City and check out the old town and bucket o blood saloon. Right over the hill is Lake Tahoe and casinos, sight seeing, etc. Mustang ranch is about an hour east of the town :cougar: I'm not sure when the Reno air races are, but they are wild... :dblthumb:

Pretty cool car museum in Sparks as well.

Good to know on all of the above. I know we plan to drive most of Lake Tahoe one day and to check out the Car Museum in Sparks too. Thought about making stops by some fonthe fab shops around Reno and Sparks while there too.

Thanks for the info. Drove all around Lake Tahoe Thursday and Virginia City Thursday evening. Spent all day Friday walking through the pits talking with drivers etc.

Can't wait to spend all day at the track Saturday starting at 7am PST.

Back in Tennessee and finally re-adjusted to God's time = Central Standard vs Pacific! Race was awesome and I highly recommend anyone to go out to Wild West to watch the Nationals. Being able to see 90+% of the track (couldn't see the very top straightaway fro 100 yards and couldn't see one downhill into a drift curve) was awesome. Walking the pits and talking to teams and rivers was very cool. Met tons of big names and little names too. Ended up with free hats, shirts, stickers, koozes, etc.

Enough typing. Onto the pics.

Not in Tennessee anymore:

Bailey Campbell (Shannon's Daughter) and Co-driver Terry Madden had a NASTY rollover 6+ times downhill. Bailey was shookup, but Terry broke a vertebrate in his back.

Awesome man!! Thanks for sharing!!

No problem. Have around 1000+ pictures from the entire trip, so if y'all want to see more pictures from the Pits of personal rigs, haulers, toterhomes, and race rigs, I'll gladly post them up.
