The sealing feature is the crush of the hose between the inside of the socket and the outside of the nipple. With this style of hose end, reusing it is a breeze. There is no sliver of cut hose to remove before reinstalling the hose end on a new piece of hose.
AN Hose:

Joes Racing AN Fitting Wrench Set:
Don't spend a ton of money on AN fittings and scratch them up using traditional wrenches. We have tried taping the fittings and BEING CAREFUL. The best way to keep them looking good is with an aluminum wrench like these ones from JOES Racing.
