Good friend and trail riding buddy, David Minton- @3DCrawler on NC4x4, started a build on this yj. He also previously owned Twisted 40. He's a busy man, and when he realized I might have a hole in my schedule, the phone rang.

It comes to me as pictured. The perfect project, with all the heavy work complete, with none of the cleanup and grinding... yay! It has the full @motobuilt gamut; subframe with link mounts, high line inner rear fenders, comp corners, rockers, front and rear bumpers, fuel cell, battery tray, rear truss, @artec front truss, @fox 2" emulsion coil overs, eibach springs, aluminum links, lsx? (This is the mock up block) , built th350, atlas, winter's shifter, @PSC steering, @trailready wheels, sticky 43 sx's, and @PRP seats and harnesses.

David has tasked me with completing this unit in my own way, creative freedom; with emphasis on a 'fast look' with a low COG. Like I said, the perfect project.

This will be fun...

All pictures in this post are the owner's work, which is top notch. All subsequent posts will be from me.

Cant wait to see this build. Hopefully it'll provide some much needed motivation to finish my yj.

If you have the ability to weigh components during this build that would be great. Everybody needs a standard issue YJ trailrig.

Yes I have pallet scales and digital small scale. Race car scales are borrowed.

What you want weighed?...if its possible ill get them weighed for ya.

Curious about chassis, tub weights mainly. Axle, drivetrain stuff should be on the web somewhere already.

I am looking forward to seeing where you go with this rig. I have Dan's 4 - link setup in mine along with the new rear fender tops and coilover mounts...really lets you keep it low.

Two full days (but only about 8 hours of actual labor????)....

Lots of brainstorming, cigarettes, Pepsi, mountain dew, pbj's and ramen noodles, pulling tape, plumb bobs, drawing, sketching, more brainstorming, leveling, raising, lowering, leveling again, stiff legging, stoking the woodstove, another cigarette, brainstorm...ehh, you get the picture....

Anywho, it has achieved its new full bump. Any further would require channeling the motobilt rear back half, and pizza cutting or channeling and plating the front frame ahead of the motor mounts.

New bump position with 0 psi in tires: (trusses are welded to stanchions and the frame- for repeatability of correct height through any suspension action. But they are accessible to break free easily, and clear of area for bump stop can mounting).

16.25 belly
1/4 clearance on metal contact at all 4 corners
Planning for 6+" up travel for a rough net belly height of 22.5"
Channeled the bed and floor for upper link clearance
Removed center grill support to allow for truss clearance
Still need to adjust the spread on the front upper links for a little more motor clearance

Motor mount clearance in the pic doors t look like you can shows much, but I'd guess you have thought about that.
Plenty of room to get the clearance I need, this pic is not a good angle to determine that.

Front bumper / truss pic looks awesome. I imagine it plowing into the dirt and shaking off a full on bumpstop assault without even breaking a sweat. :dblthumb:
