i am puting a aw4 in my yj its got a ax15 now i need a flex plate with bolts from a auto 4.0 and i may need the starter also

You will need one for that transmission, the 4.0 42re flexplate will not work, found out the hard way swapping an engine in a friends Grand Cherokee.
ATP PART # Z337 should be what you need, 2000, cherokee 4.0 application $28.79 on rockauto.

thanks man my motor is a 4.0 but the trans iis aw4 from a xj i was not shure if they both used same flex plate

I believe there are 3 different (could be wrong) flexplates for the 4.0L

87-90/91 renix style motors (60 notches)
90/91-95 pre ODB-II motors (12 notches)
96-01 OBD-II motors (12 notches)

One flywheel will have 60 notches and the other will have 12 notches

You will need to get one with the correct number of "nothces" on the flywheel to match your CPS.

If you get the wrong flywheel/cps combo your rpms( on tach) will be maxed out with the engine at idle.

The issue I had was with bolt spacing on the torque converters being different between the 2 transmissions.
