92 f150 inspiration

Alright so I picked up a 92 f150 reg cab short bed step-side last year barely running and overheating. Iv since fixed all the mechanical issues and would like to "build" a well rounded trail Truck since it's just a toy. I recently picked up an 06 superduty 60 front, rotor to rotor for 200 bucks, and have a sterling rear laying around. But I'm having a hard time finding inspiration with this Truck. So my question is, is the Truck a good base, or should I find something else? Any advise on the route I should take with it? Anybody else 4 linked a 90s f150 and like the setup? Any info helps.

If you like building stuff and are willing to dump a ton of time and money into something to be proud of rock out. If your worried about dumping a ton of money in it and not being happy with it or ever finishing it buy a rig you like and sell the truck to recoop some of the money.

I think I'd roll the SD axles under it with some radius arms and leaf spring rear, 37-40" tires, build a roll bar in the bed (tied to frame) that looks like it's from 1992 but would actually keep the cab off your head in a rollover, put some cheap ass KC daylighter knockoffs on top for extra points.

enjoy a cushy trail truck with AC and heat, then if the body eventually gets beat to pieces, pull the axles for use in something else.

what I wouldn't do is go down the rabbit hole of trying to build a 90s full size truck into some crazy custom dove nosed/dove tail damn-near-buggy... because it will end up with so many compromises in the design that it'll never actually "BE" a buggy or perform like one.

If you really want to wheel it on harder trails and keep the glass and doors in it, maybe a simple exo cage (but that would make the truck even bigger)

probably a lot more "inspiration" if you search for one ton full size broncos. Lots more of those built into trail trucks than F150s

**** I'd put some 38*14.50* 22s and some led lights and only lift the front 14.65 inches and put on Instagram and it'll sell for a sheeton

This is good advice.

This is all good advice.

Well, since making the post I have swapped a sterling 10.5 in for the rear, and cut all the SD mounts on the front axle and built a 3 link pan hard and drag link. The trucks now on 37s. Coil spring front and leafs in the rear, running 4.10s. I have yet to take it out and see how it handles trails. Hoping for the best. I'm about 3k into the entire build, Truck included.
