Steering... Quicker

The 3" ram ought to be easier on the pump than a 2.5" ram actually. The larger ram requires less pump PSI to create the same amount of turning force. The only reason to go to a 2.5" ram in your situation would be to make it turn faster. If youre happy with the speed you can turn lock to lock with your current setup I'd leave it alone. Plus if youre geting 2.5 turns lock to lock now with that 3" ram you'll probably be 1.5-2 turns lock to lock with the 2.5" ram, it may be hard to control with steering that sensitive.

My Double ended ram is 8" stroke 3" diameter with 1.5" shaft

You sure it isn't a 2.5" ram? (2.5" ID)

That looks exactly like the commonly used Surplus Center ram, and they don't sell a 3".

2.5x10 double ended surplus ram and it is full stoke with violators as far as orbital mine is 200cc I like it but sometimes it is a little more than the pump can handle
