Looking to get out and start doing some hiking. Will have kids with us ranging from 10-14. Anyone ever done any of the trails around Monteagle, Sewanee? Looking at maybe the Natural Bridge, Fiery Gizzarrd(probably to much to start with unless there are shorter trails), South Cumberland State park. I have seen lots of pictures from this general area and it looks beautiful. Any recommendations? Doesn't necessarily have to be in this area. Anything in middle Tennessee, north Alabama (done Monte Sano)? Any good web sites to get information on the trails?

Walls of Jericho. Go on a cool day, leave way ****in' early and take twice as much water as you think you will need. Stash some water at the bottom of the hill you will be climbing to get back out.

I've hiked fall & winters in North AL & South Tenn for the past few years. Fiery Gizzard is very scenic but challenging if you thru hike the 12.5+/- miles. Stone Door is a good short & scenic hike for taking the kids near Altimont, TN. If you make a short drive to cloudland canyon near chatt, the west rim 5 mile hike was rated as top 10 on the East Coast by backpacker magazine and you'll pass alot of cute ladies with dogs :cougar: Walls of Jericho near Hytop AL has some elevation change, but is one to remember if you catch the falls running. Alltrails is a good phone app to help see what is close to your location too.

Fall Creek Falls. We went a few years ago and it was a blast. Did a couple trails then chilled out up there camping and did one the next day.
