DNR update

Its not for me.. The problem is, I only learned about reiter from this forum. The pictures alone can show it is some of the best wheelen in the state. It frustrates me every time they close down some place I use on a reagulare baises so I can understand everyones frustration. Trully tho If you have a "I remember when" story consider your self lucky to have it I may never get to twist it up on the trails at reiter and that my friends is more frustrating.

Just have the faith, Get involved in a positive way, Stay involved in your club or of not in one then get involved in a club.
Reiter will be back open but there is a lot of work to do, So the sooner we roll up out sleaves and get to work, The sooner it will be back

One thing that needs to change--and one thing that will constantly leave a sour taist in all our mouths. Until the DNR restructures itself to meet todays standards for recreational use they are not going to even be close to efficiant in meeting the users needs..

Regardless if its 1000 or 2000 acres we get to use---when you look at the userbase thats constantly using the area thats not even close enough no matter how well you use the alotted area.

Not to mention the ripple effect starting nov 2 this whole valley will feel..

so charlie, I thought you were designing trails and working with DNR to get them developed? Correct?

So why have they decided to take this from you/us and give this responsibility to a planning company?

Can I say something.....and this is for EVERYBODY.

When ever I'm a part of conversation and someone starts the "I have been goin to reiter for....." I completely loose interest in the conversation.

When you talk to me, or anybody else for that matter, skip the whole, "I remember when......" crap. Nobody care's and it's irrelevant.

:awesomework: Like they get some kinda "warm fuzzie" feeling for knowing about a location or something longer then others.:haha:

man this is goin to suck if reiter pit is closein i have been goin to reiter for about 15 years now i have had so many good times there all they need to do is build so goddam bridges over the water i am goin to be pissed if reiter gets closed right when i get my yota the way i want it will be a sad day when reiter is gone for ever well i know what i am doin this weekend thronin on my swampers and goin to reiter thats for sure

This was back from late 05' From that point on the DNR was being pressed into it and thats when things started changing....

There it is. That's when the slow moving bullet was released. Thanks a lot stump jumpers...You saved our 4wheeling trails...

The truth of the matter is this stuff had been going on for some time before that letter. The letter was just a formality and RTW was involved before the letter which was Dec of 05......What some of you guys need to remember is some of us were there back then, not just reading about it on the internet. Yes Davies was a royal PITA back then there's no doubt. One of the RTWs goals in the beginning was to try to get Reiter ORV status even before this letter. Sure the bikers were working against us but that doesn't excuse RTW from trying to race them over the side of the cliff.
Here's some interesting reading about your ORV history.

Actually our goal was never to try to turn reiter into any form of an ORV park of any sorts. For the first couple of years our goal was simply to try and protect it from those bad types that hurt all of us. Wasn't until maybe the end of the second year the DNR aproached us.

Do you in fact have any proof of your actuations besides it being your own opinion?

As for the bikers a number have stated its to there own fault for not getting involved as deep and are finding themselfs in a bad position. This is one reason RTW is trying to work with them and help them..

Like it or not, the RTW has put themselves in the spotlight regarding Reiter. You will therefore be blessed with all the benefits of being blamed for what happens regardless of fault.

Get used to it

Remember, it's human nature to focus on and remember the negative rather than the positive.

DNR, F&W, BLM, RTW...it's just another 3 letter acronym to point the finger at.

I won't agru that fact brad. Its just how society is and how they react... Human nature so to speak......

Give it some time things are moving foward and as kinda planned. Just keep the faith. Hiring to have work done releases DNR of some liability. Nothing is taken away from us yet just postponed. I think that who ever gets the planning job Reiter will still be a great place to wheel

It's not my opinion it was my observation. The point behind my post was that you posted that letter and stated "this was where it all started" when the fact is that's not true.

Moving forward according to who's plan?

The DNR is worried about the liability of public access on public lands so they hire a consultant to plan trails?

Nothing is takin away yet? Sure looks like Lake Izzy was takin away...

Great place to wheel? If you like Walker Valley...

What planet do you live on and just how ****ing stupid do you think we all are to listen to your bullshit?

Facts rather than your opinion would be more productive.

Proof no...Strong evidence yes.

Some good points there Binder. And I know from experience we are always going to have to remind people what we have done and do. This is by no means a complete list, but since our creation last May, here is a short list:
-Started this RTW thing and created mission, goals and long term strategy
-Established a working relationship with DNR, Sheriffs and County Council members interested in seeing Reiter become "legit."
-Helped organize and run the clean up with SNORT
-Establish a patrol policy
-Create educational flyers to, ahh, well educate!
-Proposed a large informational sign in the parking lot at Reiter (and got a verbal ok. Will follow up soon with DNR)
-Although it didn't happen the way we planned and we still have more to do, we have helped to bridge some gaps with other motorized users.
-Began the process of establishing maps of the area
-Ordered a lot of pizza :redneck:

There's more, but you get the idea.

why do these threads always turn out to by cry baby blaming everybody else for what has happened?

get over it, do something about it. or shut the hell up.
