I am picking up a 4runner pretty soon.
I'm clueless on yota's though. So, is this setup common, is it worthwhile, and will it be hard to fix if broke?

It has a v6/5 speed/dual case combo
i already have read about the v6, so lets not worry about that.
How strong is that 5speed? the owner says both cases are 4cyl cases, and are 23spline. The second case is a JPeater 4:1 case.
It has a 60 front, 14b rear, so those i am familiar with. I am assuming it has some sort of hybrid driveling with 1 ton yokes on one end, and yota yokes on the other because he stated the d-lines are aftermarket with toyota on 1 end of them Are the yota ends going to present a problem?
Its on 39.5's with 5.13s

New yota

Sounds like you got a turn key rig that's not going to break for a while. As for the 6cyl transmission they are extremely strong, and don't worry too much about breaking it with that engine. As for a V-8 in the future it should hold up to that too.

engine

i know, but the donor truck sitting in the shop should have all i need.

I;m not new to motorswaps.

When it dies keep everything you got and get an adapter to the SBC to that V-6 tranny. Everything from the tranny back should hold up just fine. My vote....SBC:beer:

its best to know exactly what you have in both axles, if you take the secend case down to low apply power with out the proper hardware you are to start and will continue to blow birfs and axles, if you dont know what i an talking about you are over your head and this will be a money pit for you...let us know what you totaly know about this truck, specificly the axle set-ups...

Dodge Dana 60 front(1978), 5.13's, elocker, i believe stock shafts

14bolt rear, 5.13's, detroit locker, stock shafts, disc brakes.

What birfs? i mentioned in my first post that it has a 60/14b and that i am already pretty fluent on them(not my first rig with a 60 front....)

More specs on it
52" front springs with a 4" lift to them, hysteer, and hydro assist
63" rears with z boxes, and a trac bar. On board air, with 8 gallon tank, rocksliders, and aftermarket front and rear bumpers. Rock lights and an 8k lb winch.

Sorry, for some reason I thought this was out of a 4ruuner....It was but has morphed into something else...Yah this is where I back out...

Reminds me of my old rig... :booo: Only mine had a 22re :fawkdancesmiley:

Good choice. The only thing it looks like you should look into is a 4.3L votec swap... :awesomework:

Wow... I'd lower it about 6" and take off that air dam... errrr... I mean "bumper" from the front of it.. :D

I'd swap a hot 4.3 or very mild small block into it when the 3.slow croaks. That trans will hold up to about anything but power shifting.. A buddy built a refuckingtarded 383 serious 600+ hp and the trans lasted a long time until he got cocky and tried to bang second.... :haha: He learned the lesson, put a rebuilt trans in it and never had another problem.

As far as the yota parts on the drivelines I'd swap yota flanges on the axles too, they are rather burly for what they are and you won't have one fall apart like typical dana/spicer crap. . Inchworm carries them for $95, cheapest place I've found.

I like the 4.3 vortec also. Easy to fit, good power, parts galore.
Did mine with a painless harness.
I like the bumper, I looks to low though. The winch should be about 1/2 way up the grill, unless you have butloads of body lift.

toy yoke, and joints are stonger than D60 stuff. and provide more useable angle.

the only thing im aware of on the 14, is they like to snap pinions/yolks. but on that light of rig, that should be a NON issue.

what wrong with a SBF. its a better fit ;)

yes, use all yota yolks/joints.

if i had to do it again, i wouldnt swap in the v8...

well, i started with the 4cyl tho. so maybe i would have. but, id rather have the FI 4cyl....
