14" shock hoop problem

hey guys...jus lookin to see if somebody has ran into this prob b4..called tg and they didnt know what to say. i got the 5" tg front springs and 5" shackles. 14" bilsteins and hoops. cut the fenderr well out. and get the hoop up there and the shock has like 9" of rod showing. try n lower the hoop the lowest i can go. and it still has way more than the 5.5" i want of rod out. they said they always send out the 14" shocks and hoops for these springs..and never heard of this b4. so im jus curious if there might be somethin im over lookin here. or if its as simple as jus shortening the shock hoop to where it works ? thx,nick.
 
Did you flex the rig out to set the shocks? If you did and they aren't long enough for the flex your getting then it sounds like you need to return them and get ones that are long enough.
 
return the shocks ? i would think 14" travel shocks would be plenty for my set up. im jus curious since the frame on the 1st gen is higher at the frame where the hoop is welded. than the newer style frames...if thats why my hoop is higher ?
 
I traded my 14s for 12s, and shortened the hoops, it was the same TG kit. The shocks and brakelines are not maxed in this pic.

I called TG several times while trying to make their junk fit, they said the same thing "nobody has ever had that problem before" or "I dont know what you are talking about". I ended up giving half of their crappy parts to my friend for free, and making my own parts that worked.

well i did some measurements and with 5" of shaft showin. i need to shorten the hoops 3" ....what a pain in the azz....u would think they would say somethin bout the hoops needin to be shorter for 1st gens....but guess thats to complicated. coulda had my own made up by now. guess "just buy it and weld it on" went down the shitter lol
