Anyone know any used truck equipment yards where I might be able to find a utility bed?

Every time I look at my truck bed, I cant help but notice all the wasted space taken up by the stock bed. I've seen a couple rigs with campers set up on utility bodies and it looks like good setup. Theres just not enough storage in a camper for firewood, barbeques, camping gear etc.

I've considered building a custom bed that implements premade underbody storage boxes but it looks like a fairly daunting undertaking.

Heres a link to a page showing premade boxes.

Try Nelson Truck in Kent, they sell and install new service boxes, but might be able to get you a used one. That or Craigslist.

i built this one many years ago , the deck it self was pretty basic , mounting it on the frame required a but of work but it worked well

Mine sits on my flatbed, and I love it because it gives me a lot more room to put things like the generator, cooler, chairs, etc.

Those setups look alot better than the standard bed. Maybe cutting down a flat bed a little and adding storage boxes would skin the cat.

Ive thought alot about this.look for reading or service brand utility bodies. I wanted to build my ultimate tow/support rig with a crewcab pickup 1ton single wheel and put a utility bed on it with the doors on the sides. then just throw a camper on it or a tin cover and toss in a generator, welder, torches, etc... it would be perfect for spare parts and tool storage. I just found this on pirate. this is exactly what I am talking about, except I want a 4in lift and 35s, oh and built out of my megacab.
