Yes, after running the Fabtech 8" lift on it I like the solid front axle for that reason itself, SOLID. It will be a lot better in four wheel drive than it was before. I am hard on my rigs and the light duty front end didn't like the abuse that it got getting the wheeler to the starting line. It rode soft on pavement and was comfy when going straight but corners not so pretty. Because of the amount of lift and tire on it the ball joints would wear out quick and tie rods were not the trucks friend.
my 96 sub rode great with leafs in the front on a hp60. I loved the way it handled offroad too. I would do another in a heartbeat. I used the offroad unlimited stuff and didnt have any problems with anything fitting. I would love to do a newer sub with one of the coilover kits out there.
I dunno. my ifs has been through plenty of 4wd launches. My tr ends and bj's are still tight with my 6". I find it hard to believe those leaf springs even compare to comfort than the ifs did? Where are you towing your wheeler where you feel your going to grenade the factory ifs on the tow hoe?
Dont get me wrong, the truck looks good....I just dont enderstand why?
I have seen this heavy chevy go so crosseyed on the steer tires, I wish I had a picture to show you, for example pulling out on to the dunes in four wheel drive when the sand got deep and you have to get with it the front tires would look at each other. and to tow in the snow you would go through patches of traction and slipery so when the front tires would hit the traction frist it was all bad, and not to mention the tyerods that are as big as my pinky that really did not like to carry the load of the duramax's power and all the weight of the truck, trailer, and jeep ( BAM ) every time. and there we are no steering and no going any where, and keep in mind 8" of lift and 38/13.5/r20 tires, thats alot of load for a front suspension ment for a half ton two wheel drive truck :fawkdancesmiley:
so maybee the truck should have been kept stock so the factory engineering would have been somewhat sufficient? :fawkdancesmiley:
Wheres the fun in that????????
besides where we go in the snow in the winter that would never work
