• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

Breaking Birfields every wheelin trip!! Need help!!

Just checked them out I'll get them next week.Thats the next weekest link strips the end of the birfield out it said .Did not know that.

What happens is they usually crack the gear which lets the gear open up and lets the splines slip damaging them in the process....

If they are bobby's chromo 30 splines to retain the warrantee on them you must run his hub gears....

Yup, he is very clear on this when you buy them. I've gotten about 5 sets of them from him and he told me each and every time. Cause as you stated thats the week spot and its known.

If you break them or the axles they are covered. But if your stock hub gear breaks an takes the spline off the birf, that is not covered unless it is our hub greas then it would be covered.

Whats the liklyhood of the axle tube being bent enough to cause the axle to be unable to spin without binding. I know the yota axle tubes bend. But im noy realy a toyota guy is this posable or likly?

Don't cool the axle with water. You want the axle to cool as slowly as possible. When you use water to cool the axle you cause it to shrink at a very rapid rate. Weld in a criss-cross pattern with short stitch welds and let it air cool for a few minutes between each weld.

I use the one 2" weld one beer method.

cool

Its also a good idea to weld a small section and wrap it in a welding blanket and let it cool slower/stronger = more beers inbetween welds.
