• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

So i bought a 51 Whilly

talk about lazy the book is on my shelf about ten feet from my chair at work but i was actually busy today.:D

trying to decide on the attachment tabs, just weld some on or have them cut into the plate and then bend em up? probably weld on.

Cut out and bent up would look pretty clean and i bet only slightly weaker than a weld on if not the same strength. Only problem is whether or not you have means of bending the tabs......if it were me (beacause i dont have a break to bend steel at home with) i would weld them on, but thats just me:redneck:

I might be working just down the street from your place here pretty soon Hip:cool:

im going through withdrawls....havent touched this in a month. if my family and friends would just stop dying on me i could get back to work.

i plan on working in the shop this weekend so if anyone wants to stop by ill be there.:D

You've inspired me to get working on my willy. Had to scrap all the future Zuki plans and was forced to add a note to the to-do list (just under 'replace head') - no more playing hard.

I did get my junkyard head today, and should have gaskets on the way in the next day or two...

Gonna order up a carb rebuild and clutch for the willy - that should get it moving.

Have a good weekend in the shop.

Later,
MikeP

if we had just taken the time to wire up your temp switch/indicator you would have known it was overheating....

im working on the $500 dollars worth of mortars for KOH 11..:cheer:..got someone who runs a booth at boomcity interested in a ride in the whilly when it gets done.:eeek:

worked all weekend on my little whilly front fender thingys and when i was all done i dont like em so im cutting them off. they came out pointing up in the front slightly and after all this is supposed to be a FLATFENDER when it gets done....:eeek:

I picked up a radiator flush kit (for the T piece basically) and need to stop on my way home tonight and get an adapter from female garden hose to female NPT, that should get me good flow by the mechanical guage I bought - there was no adapting the metric threads to NPT where the existing temp sensor is, stupid foreign metric crap.

Still need to stop playing hard though :-(

It's OK, I'm gonna spend this season fixing up the Jeep and Willy and breaking in some newbs.

A couple more 88 degree weekends and we'll be in good shape for the Con on Memorial Day weekend.

Sweet, I like the little 1" square front fenders, and nice job on the hood cover-up. Are you going to bubble some sheet metal on the top too, or just leave it with the holes?

just leave the holes for the shock towers. maybe line the edge with some sort of rubber.

The belly pan is in the press brake being bent today should be able to pick it up after work, thanks jeepasaurusrex.

Did you do some damn voo-doo snow dance up there?! After that 88 degree comment, it has apparently done nothing but add to the pack. Reports are 8-10 feet at Gatekeeper last weekend. We're gonna have to look for somewhere else to play than the Con for our Memorial Day weekend... :booo: Thanks Hip

Oh yeah, got a heater hose (radiator flush) tee and a garden hose to npt adapter and my mechanical temp sensor is connected. Now just have to rebuild the junkyard head and get it back on...
