Hello everyone,

I have a 2008 Toyota 4Runner 4.0L V6 4WD Limited Edition with a tire size of P265/60R18. I am looking go with the BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A KO2 or Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac and need some help deciding. I have read countless reviews and threads regarding these two tires and it is very hard to find a decent comparison between them from someone who has driven on both tires since the KO2 is so new. Please only respond with feedback if you have driven on BOTH of the tires because I want to compare the two and am not interested in how well one of the tires performs compared to a street/stock tire. I am mainly looking for a comparison between their performance in deep snow, deep mud, wet pavement traction(hydroplaning resistance), and longevity(treadwear - I know this will be hard for the KO2), but I will gladly take any other feedback as well. If you have any feedback on the sidewall strength of the Duratrac and the "hearsay" about them losing most of their traction at half tread, please share. Thank you for your time.

AGAIN: Please only respond with feedback if you have driven on BOTH of the tires.

have both right now.

both are excellent in rain and snow with possibly the gdy slightly better. the bfg will wear better and is quieter. I put duratracs on my wifes jku and have also had them on my d-max. running the KO2 on my d-max now. the ko2 is tons quieter compared to the duratrac when on my truck (heavier truck). the duratrac is fairly quiet on the wifes jku since it's lighter.

we (I'm a manager for Discount Tire) sell a ton of duratracs and are starting to sell the ko2 now as well.

both a very good DD tires that can go offroad.

I have the exact same vehicle and was in the same situation about 7 months ago. I decided on the wranglers because read all the reviews. Well the night before I was going to the store to get them I ended up going to Tunica and lost all of my money at the blackjack table. Because I lost so much money so fast they comped me a free buffet and a t shirt. While eating, I traded the t shirt for a set of Korean snow tires. I am in no way satisfied them and truly feel like I should have stayed on that last 16 and I would be riding new Goodyears. Really the only advice I can give is to stay when you have King and 6 and the dealer is showing a 5, by all means stay. As far as the tires, both are a decent tire for hard core off road wheeling. You can trust me cause I sell tires for a living.

I know you don't want anyone to post without knowledge, as plainly stated in bold fonts... but, BOTH these tires can be gotten at my number one sponsor (see sig line) The Walmarts. I was just there stocking up on sponsorship swag and saw both over on the tire aisle.

I'm glad to help if you have any more questions about The Walmarts or even Top Ramen.

Could always get 2 of each to make a set and see which one Ya like best Ha ... Nitto trail grappler for the win!

Good one..haha..The trail grappler seems good but it seems to lack the sipes to do well in the snow. I've been a tire tech at Discount Tire, a sales manager at National Tire and Battery, a service advisor at Sears Auto, a service and sales manager at Pep Boys, and a service advisor at a Honda Dealership. So, I know a thing or 2 about reading the tread on a tire..they'll do excellent in the mud though.. ;)

Because of my previous experience and knowledge of how tread designs perform, some people may question why I even created this thread. The answer is because I am looking for opinions from people who have experience with both of the tires so I can see if it will sway me in the direction of one of the tires, even though I have pretty much already made my decision in my head.

I'm pretty sure I know you. You work at the Discount Tire in Joliet on Larkin and Jefferson, right? I brought my 4Runner there 2 weeks ago to rotate and balance my Duratracs and asked you about the KO2s and you told me the same exact thing.

Do they make a red label in a 265. :JRich:

The cool thing about the KO2 is that they used the blue label on the baja trails to test it out and still won the competition..haha.

I appreciate the suggestion but I like Discount Tire because I've worked there and I know they do things right and completely by the book. They also have excellent prices.

If anybody else has any experience or opinions with these 2 tires, I'd be glad to hear it..

I think they both look great but I think I like the sidewall of KO2 a little bit more.

Brock beat me too it. But I have a feeling there will be some hell to pay for some people in about 27 days
