I'm lookinf or thinking about a 1/8th thick sheet that bolts over the top or something. Like a thicker skin.

Jon,
Haven't found anything store-bought worth having. Have seen guys do tube work to protect that area. Both sides of my CJ were crushed and passanger side of my YJ is smushed. It only benefits you at resale time. Tony

this is something to look into john. Maybe just have some 1/8th in plate rolled to the right radius and weld brackets to it that slip under the windshield frame and onto the firewall. I know pokeys jeep has cowl damage, and I have had it on my cj5. It is pretty common on wheelers. You might be able to sell them.

Thats what I was thinking. I'm really surprised BTF or Spider doesn;t make anything like this yet. Tube work is an option but this would be easier.

It wouldnt be hard to make such a thing. when I swap out the tub this winter you can use my old one to make a template by heating up a piece of plate while bending it over the cowl.

I just think for me that tube is out of the question. I dont think it looks cool on a street driven jeep in my yard. I like it on other peoples rigs just not mine. I like the idea just like they now have complete quarter panels and tube fenders, why not the cowl. I would not do the hood, makes it too heavy to lift. Just replace it whereas the cowl cant be replaced. You should be able to find a big thin pipe or tube with the same diameter and cut it into quarters.

I thought you broke that virgin in finally, now you wanna sow her back up...:wtf:

I have been beating on that jeep all summer and fall. It needs some TLC right now. I need to go through the entire thing , check all the fluids, and tighten bolts, raplce broken **** , and fix broken ****.

Well my list of broke **** grew yesterday.

Now I need a new water pump and Fan clutch (not because of the run, just from a loos fan clutch that I knew about)
But also need a windshield. Oh and a new hub. :booo:
