tube bending

There is a guy in Bonney Lake that is bending tube now. He is doing my exo on my Toy right now. I will get his number if you are interested.

i highly doubt anyone on this board has a mandrel bender (the only place in washington that has one that i know of is stans headers in auburn) they are very expensive and are mostly used for high end exhaust because it prevents the tubing from colapsing at all however in doing so it stretches the tubing more making it weaker than a rotary draw type bend that most of us have... if you want to learn more read this

Why exactly do you need a mandrel bender? I see no practical need for one.

A mandrell bender has a die that goes inside the tube to prevent crushing. That's fantastic for exhaust but stretches the outside radius of the tube too much for anything structural. So unless you'r trying to squeze all 800hp out of you'r race engine I dont see the point.

thanks for the info. im just going to use a press bender. o im making air shock mounts. the pipe i have is 2'' 1/4'' wall. it may be over kill.

 when your using it to hold up the front of your truck overkill is good be sure to plate the frame where your welding the hoops to to expand the surface area and gusset the piss out of them ive seen standard shock hoops tear off because of a lack of gussets... just my .02
