I got bored 1 day and machined these ,they press into the factory adjuster and weld in. it takes the kingpin dana 60 inner axle seals. If you need them, you can have em for 25.00 plus shipping..
Here's a pic of my 14 bolt rear steer
I have both i i use the versa more then the jd i like being able to cut at any angle the versa will allow you to cut some the spin around and cut without turing the pipe works great on funky bends
It can be welded easily, clean really good use deburring tool ,wire wheel, clean with acetone, heat with a rose bud carefully, bend back out with a porta power and 2x4 block for a base ,tack real good and go to town
I haven't loaded mine yet either I'm shooting for 65-70 feet of synthetic rope.since we had about 1500 feet of 3/8 left over from a job we did out here.
So I got bored today and torn my warn vr8 winch down .reasoning do to a tight fit between the frame rails.
total time to narrow was about an hour or so.
Narrowed up 2"
I machined the weld off the splined hub, then the drum end plate weld off,cut 2" off the tube welded back together.simple to do...
there prolly heat treated which I'm sure they are.using heat is gonna weaking them, taking the tempering out. but if it's just a spare lite the rose bud up.. one thing to keep in mind, if it broke it would cause more damage, taking the spindle out hub or locker if it bound up..
Just a thought...
