Yesterday my business checking/money market account was hacked, then drained. My bank is awesome and has frozen my accounts and deposited all of the missing money back into my account. Everything should be restored this afternoon.

If this has happened to anyone else, what steps can be taken to prevent this?

When the fannie mae/freddie mac databases were hacked about a year ago, my account has one that was hit then as well, along with thousands of other people nationwide.

??? ???

I would run a credit report to make sure there is not any funny stuff going on.

I go some ID theft insurance a few years ago aftersome got into my checking account. Luckily the bank caught mine as well and put the money back before I noticed.

I got ID theft insurance thru Zander Insurance Company http://www.zanderins.com/idtheft/idtheft.aspx
Their rates are pretty reasonable, and they are suppose do all the dirty work to clean up your credit report in case someone gets your info

Both mine and the wife's Colonail Bank cards got "compromised" just this past week. We didnt notice anything weird going on, but our bank did. They let us know and sent us new debt cards. All is good.
