Coalmont TN OHV New Park info

The pic I saw looked like somebody that was riding there backed over one of the new RV hook ups with their trailer and drove off . I could be wrong . There is some rough people in grundy but there's some I wouldn't trade for alot people.

Mountain folk are some of the best folk.... until you piss them off.

We had a group ride there this past weekend. The trails within the park seem to be mostly fire roads that have some very steep sections with loose rock and a ton of steep, tight switchbacks. Was bone dry this weekend but it will be sketchy AF when its wet. Scenery is great with a few areas that have phenomenal views. Saw some cool trails leading off the park property that were marked as private property, but being unfamiliar with the area, not sure where they went or how hard they were and who owns the property. Some of the creek bed trails were fun, but nothing super difficult. Most trails were marked with numbers but the trail map doesnt have trail numbers on it. Could see the trails being completely different this time next year after they get dug out by traffic. Had a couple trucks get some pretty good body damage from one of the trails being super narrow.

FWIW, i was in a 1st gen tacoma on 33s with f/r lockers and didnt have any issue and only had to use lockers a handful of times, mostly to make getting up a few loose steep hills easier. Also had a razer and couple buggies with 40s.

Campground was nice, and aside from some a**holes ripping through the campground on razers blasting music at 3am, we didnt have any problems.

Not sure if we will go back next year, but if we do, I'd like to get a better map/info on some of those trails that go off the park.

They can't open until they hire a park manager. Which they are in the process of doing now. I have not officially road at the park. I have been to the Cove a few times in the last few months but went in my old way parking at a friends house. But I did have a few friends that have helped cut and mark most of the trails at the park.

Wonder what that job pay/entails.

Kinda what I thought . It looks like two jobs rolled into one . Nonetheless the clueless people would be the straw that broke the camels back for me.

Not everyone makes $50 an hour to set at a desk and watch porn like you do.

Headline news version of yesterdays trip. Overall great day and perfect weather.
Was our first outing with the 4-seater after nearly a year of ownership and first outing with our 2 year old. Nothing like going from not wheeling the 4-seater or with little dude, to 10 hours on the trail with 6.5-7 hours of those moving time.

Went to the main ledges, Church, and AC Cave. @The Luke went mud boggin' trying to help someone stuck and got stuck himself.

Covered 25 miles (turns out I have a range of 24 miles) so @The Luke had to go get a gas can from my truck. So typical minor shenanigans.

So according to the tracker app I used (Relieve) we went a little over 25 miles. Left the truck and returned a little over 10 hours later with a little over 6 hours of moving time.

It's a little over 12 miles from Coalmont to the AC Cave with the Bryant Cove Church nestled nearly smack dab in the middle mileage wise.

We rode a minimal amount of actual Coalmont so would like to go back sometime to see the trails. The parking area was huge and busy. The bathouse and pavilion areas were quite nice.

How that new bronco go? There's a guy who wheels with us sometimes and I've been pretty impressed with it. He just done a bunch suspension upgrades over winter too

First I'd been around one and was overall quite impressed. Tall, skinny 37's and some decent line selection and he had no issues. Has the twin turbo V6 and 10 speed auto. He said it had great power for trails or for regular driving.

He said his complaints was overall weight. Not a power to weight complaint but just how it feels while on the trail. Said he'd like to go to 40's but it requires a lot more work and $.

Went back to Coalmont on Saturday to check out a few of the park trails and ended up back in the Cove. Took maybe 5-8 of the Coalmont trails, which were mostly twisty, dirt/rocky uphill/downhills, but were still pretty fun. Didn't find any "crawler trails" but we knew that going in. There is still a ton of trails that we didn't check out within the park.

Went down to the first waterfall ledge to let the kids try to catch minnows/fall in the water some. Then headed out to eat some lunch in a secluded spot near the water (that had evidence of some big cats), then to the Church and ran the Sherwin Williams trail. Made our way back towards Coalmont to wrap up the day.

Forgot to use the Relive app to track us, but used the Gaia GPS app to track us. Showed some cool info and we missed tracking maybe a 1/2 mile of the trip total.
