Vehicle Market predictions

Next two months gonna suck. Chip shortage, raw material shortage, or transpiration issues. Already seeing semi manufactures stacking and also calling off production weeks over next two months. Really gonna halt the manufacturing world again.
Sad part was, folks were on a upswing, now gonna slow again.
Predictions end of 2022/ 3rd quarter 2023 before things roll fully again.
Sad for everyone all around.
 
Buddy of mine was at the Mercedes dealership in Birmingham yesterday, the one Nick Saban owns, look at this ****! A 100k dollar mark up! And they selling the hell out of them! Unbelievable...

Few months later, what's everyone seeing in their area for new vehicle inventory as well as used vehicle pricing?

Where do you think it's going now?

The reason they are selling is that 2021 is the last year of the twin turbo V8. Everything going to inline 6 turbo or other!!!
 
I'm all over Ohio Indiana Kentucky and Michigan. I haven't seen a new superduty on a lot in probably a year. Only new truck I see are f150's. The dodge lots seem to be packed full and chevy lots are pretty sparse like Ford. As far as used goes. Well locally they are off their rockers. My woman's ex husband has a lot and he has a 19 superduty with 50k miles on it for 60k. That's crazy too me and it's pretty much that way everywhere, guess the old 7.3 gonna stick around a few more years
 
From what I see in the OEM side (I work for the biggest automotive manufacturer in the world), the issues are far form being fixed.

I don't see anything changing any time soon and we are actually changing our business model to account for that.
 
Basically like I said, at least around me, the new market is less and less appealing. You either pay a huge market adjustment that can only be avoided by ordering new from the factory but that's a 20-30 week wait. And they've done away with nearly all of the rebates except for military or business owner. Even then, if you qualify for everything, it's like 1500 off.

The used car and truck market is crazy now, I bought my daughter a 2018 Camry SE in October of 17 when the new body style came out and gave $23,400 OTD. She kind of wanted to trade it in on a truck a year or so after owning it and the only lots that had trucks that she liked offered us $16k trade-in. The car was immaculate back then only had 14k miles so she decided to keep it since she was going off to college. Well fast forward to today's market,she traded the Camry in 2 weeks ago on a new 22 Nissan Frontier 4x4. The Camry now had door dings all the way around it,wasn't a panel untouched,couple hail dings,needed a windshield,45k miles later and dealership gave her $22,500 trade-in. It's crazy how used vehicles are so over priced now,they gave us $900 bucks less than I gave for the car new.
 
i get a text at least once or twice a week of the salesman trying to buy back my bronco. One day he asked what it would take and i told him jokingly either a new truck for the same payment or a really nice used 250/350 for the same payment. His boss called me like 10 min later and asked how serious i was and wanted me to come down and drive this Chevy 2500 gas burner they had just gotten in.

Me and my wife ordered a new F350 gas burner and it's the 1st truck I've ever ordered so I checked boxes on ever heavy duty thing I could and some interior convenience stuff since it's going to be our weekend family vehicle/tow rig. We ordered it either the last week of July or 1st week of August,Ford said we'd get it sometime after beginning of the year. The truck actually came in middle of December,local used dealer I know said he could get $5k or more over MSRP for it if I'd let him sell it. We actually got the truck just over $5k under sticker using my wife's discount but making $10k off anything nowadays is tempting. I know I won't do it because I frankly don't want to wait on another one or try to find a used truck in this market.

What bronco you get ?

It's the sport it's the first new car I've owned. Definitely the nicest thing I've ever owned. Only wish I hadn't got black. Such a pain in the ass to keep clean.

Agreed on the used market being nuts! It's a sellers market on the used side but you get killed as the buyer for a used replacement.

Last week I listed the wife's 06' Tacoma double cab short bed 4x4 with 181,000 miles for $2k over book. It sold in 24 hours for asking price which was nice, but kinda wish I had listed it for $4k just to see what happened. So we drove the truck for 140k miles over nearly ten years and sold it for $5,500 less than we paid for it in 2012…

Stopped by the local truck dealer we bought our F250 (12' Crew Cab, short bed, 4x4 with the 6.7) back in January 2019. They offered me at least $5k over what I paid for it three years and 22k miles later. While it was a tempting offer, I can't replace it/small upgrade from it (F350 single or dually) for anywhere close to that amount or mileage.

So all that to say, no future market predictions but it's a great time to be a seller.
 
After looking at all of the numbers, if you've got a desirable trade-in, the market is about the same. Any extra I paid on the new one was offset by receiving extra for my trade-in.
