I picked up a 1 ton chevy today and saw this rig sitting off to the side, a ford cab and chassis ambulance with a weird looking front 4x4 front axle, it had a pumpkin on each side.......one for each front tire......what the hell is it??

There was a thread on Pirate about these a while back w/ a diagram about them and how they work... but I can't seem to find the link right now

Yes... there are 2 front diffs

Two front diff's with spools, two front drivelines... somebody told me once it was so that they could make it 4wd but keep a lower COG.

That's crazy.. Would be kinda interesting to use it in a rig.. I like the t-case it owuld be a great conversational piece.

That is interesting. We used to have a couple of 4x4 conversion Ford Van Chassis ambulances, and they used regular straight axles. They were lifted to fit everything, 33's would have fit fine in front.

I cant keep drivelines together as it is i wouldnt want another one to worry about.

Hi All:

Wow! That is some crazy ass sh*t! :haha: :redneck:

Must have been used before regular IFS 4wd came out??

Regards,

Alan
