Ive got 500 horsies of sbc under the bars of this here contraption. It runs great but when Im in a full throttle assault and let out the gas all at once she dies, acts like it sucks all the fuel out of her and just doesnt have enough to pick back up. I am a propane dumbass !! Was told to pull the restrictor so I did with no avail. One said it might be the stall, its a 2800 stall an It idles around 1000 r's until you put it in gear then she dumps down to bout 600.. Can sombody tell my dumbass whuts up !?!?!?

What's up is you need a dual kit or fuel injection to feed that kind oh hp, sorry to let your wallet know that. That seems to be the same symptom everyone has when they try to feed a high horse motor with a single kit.

Mine was doing the same thing hot rod told me to turn the big screw in center t :dblthumb:hree turns out .so far no more problems

With a strong small block a single mixer is going to run out of air and fuel around 325 hp or 5200 rpm, whichever comes first. With a larger engine or high flow heads and cam the rpm goes down. The restriction in the mixer is for changing the air/fuel ratio to run methane(natural gas) and will only cause you to use more fuel than needed. With higher hp engines and/or large engines dual mixers are needed to properly feed enough fuel and air to make it run. With a dual mixer setup you can feed up to 650 hp easily. The photo is a dual mixer setup on a 383 stroker that dynoed at 585 hp with a killer torque curve of over 500 ft.lbs starting around 1500 rpm.

Another issue you might want to check is if running a vacuum lockoff valve make sure the vacuum hose is not connected to manifold vacuum. It should be connected to the mixer or any port above the throttle blades which is ported vacuum. Manifold vacuum at WOT is zero so the lockoff valve will close and the engine run out of fuel as it will suck everything out of the vaporizer. Port vacuum never drops to zero.

I have been in the conversion business for over 21 years so if I can help let me know. We have the parts to upgrade your setup to dual mixers and vaporizers so you can keep using what you have.
Sincerely,

Buddy Gamel

I've heard that the bacon buggy with big block on propane has dual mixers, 800 horse big block, and goes through a tank in 3 hours. Mine on one mixer wil go almost all day.

Lil Tim's horses are more hungry than yours (and there are more of em I bet )

I'm running a 406 with 475 hp had the same problem you are describing in the first statement. It ended up being a small vaccum leak at the intake. Had everything machined and runs great now no prob. We had changed kits, tanks, etc before finding out what it was. This is just from the yellow buggies experience. :dunno:

I had the same issue as well, potent lil 358 and it was stalling at idle all the time, intake leak, fixed it and the single 425 feeds it well, sure there may be a few more ponies with dual mixers but it screams wild the way it is and I can wheel 6 hours on one tank

i fought mine for awhile, ended up taking lockoff off and going over it making sure no leaks, motor would die after bout 5 seconds wot. it fixed now runs great, get bout 5hrs out a tank
