Mine's All toy!!! don't know about high speed and crawling , not enough HP. great idea!!! I've got parts.. and can find almost anything!!
Got any questions PM me or look for my posts!! I can tell you a lot of what not to do.. I would go with older 4 speed top loader it is lighter and 6" shorter!

Cant wait to see frame ideas!!! 3 things 1 on a crawler run 4.7 TG t-case gears, 2 for a bouncer use the doubler for a 2.8 and 5.2 t-case on a budget so you can use mid range. both work well with 4;11 for 38"and up may add gears... T-case gears are a lot cheaper than 2ring/pinons,,, On a budget.. 3 Most people toyotas have no choices for a rear disconnect.. how about cutting/turning brakes on a open rear, at least you can lock 1 rear tire,,, close to a rear burn and no locker price don't think so watch a VW rail buggy.

Billstoy, I'll probably be picking your brain a lot when its my turn to start building the drivetrain.. this will be my first true Crawler.. so I'm a newbie at it but been wheelin all my life.. can't wait;D

You got my wheels turning!!! I'm thinking a 22r 5pd with 4.7. + 4;11's and a single seat. a point and shoot bouncer ... I've got all the parts..
anyone need a 82 toy cab truck project,,,Or a 84 x-cab bobbed straight axle no motors or trans in either. or a 88 reg cab no motor with top cut off

Well, I guess I was looking at my rig, which is all Yota Drivetrain and not 30 yr old springs but I still consider it a "crawler"

So a "speed of approach" aspect fits, but that doesn't necessarily have to do with the chassis, but the driver
