anybody had any building done re-using chicken barn trusses? if so lets hear about it. im having trouble finding anybody that wants to mess with it.

Brother-in-law has a shop built with them, his shop is way better than mine, bigger too! Good thing about using them is the span is already set for you just have to decide how long you want it to be and you set the trusses further apart using fewer trusses in the build. The guy that did his has a home made boom just for that purpose but we are in FL so not going to help you much. I say find someone needing work and y'all do it yourselves, its what I am going to do with my new one.

I have a 36x50 shop with used chicken house trusses and tin worked out good and the trusses were straight and got em for $30 bucks a piece, way cheaper than new ones.

Pics of shop, inside framing as well please. ;D

I didn't use (used) truss but had a guy that builds chicken house truess build mine. Built the shop pole barn style, putting them 10' apart. 30' long and only had to use 4 of them. Saved a good bit of money plus love the extra head room.

Anybody know where the best place to buy those fabricated metal trusses is?

Now that I'm married the wife wants me to build another shop to work out of so she can park in the current attached shop... :eat:

I want to keep the wall height in a 10-12' range but still have room for a 2 post lift :dblthumb:

Cecil Pigg in Addison, AL is the best ive found

We used the chicken house trusses and tin. We built a 40 by 80 with 14 ft walls. 5 ft center 6x6,s for the walls and 2x4 lathe on top and sides. It's a sturdy bitch.

X2 and the cheapest. He owns a truss company and builds metal buildings. He made my chicken house trusses. The houses are 54ft wide.
