I have been wheeling for 20+ years and over the years my rigs have gotten bigger and stronger and my driving style has grown to a new level as well. Hell 20 years ago I wouldnt have dreamed I could build what I have today and damn sure wouldnt think I could do the things we do today in our rigs. That being said my awareness for safety has grown also. I can remember when we first put cages in our jeeps....then we were getting fancy with our suspensions seats and harnesses....oh and we were extra safe cause we all started putting extinquishers and a basic first aid kits in our rigs lol. I am no bouncer by any means but i do like to push my rig to its limits...and sometimes beyond ;). So when my wife started riding with me this last year and willing to hang in there no matter what the trail may bring (which i was surprised of I might ad) i got to thinking a helmet for her would not be a bad idea. So i ordered her a pink one from axel offroad and i have to say I like it and like knowing shes a lil more protected....and she likes it also which is a good thing. So as my next personal evolution of offroading I ordered myself one as well...only not in pink lol. Im sure i wont be wearing it all the time but its going to be in my rig for those times when we all know things could get harry.

I have an axel helmet and neck brace, they are light and comfortable, don't break the bank, I've been leaving it in my buggy so that it's there if I need it and trying to get in the habit of wearing it, just from smacking my head on the tubing or anything really, but it's a hard habit to get into, they definatly don't have the protection of a DOT helmet, but I would never a big bulky uncomfortable DOT Helmet around all day , the axel or other small helmets feel like a hat after a while

I was looking at some different version of skate helmets or similar. I like the one that you posted, although maybe not in pink. I agree with the safety aspect, it only takes one mistake to leave in a bad way and you can only be lucky for so long.

I wear a Giro helmet.

The ear pads are removable, but a nice addition in the winter.

I bought an Axel helmet this year and sold it after the first time I wore it. For me, the Giro is more comfortable. Whatever helmet, make sure it fits properly and is comfortable or you will not wear it.

I did notice that Giro discontinued the purple, that makes me sad!

Was thinking of a neck brace also myself. I had neck fusion surgery a couple years ago and after a long day of beating on my rig i can def tell it in my neck! Do you find that it offers decent support?

I just got the neck brace last week , this will be my first weekend with it and unless I'm trying some steep nasty hill I don't plan to wear it just trail riding, I will carry it in the buggy just in case though

I wear a dot motocross helmet that Ive had for several years with a Sfi neck roll. I like having some face protection from limbs or flying objects! I only wear them when I race or try a really bad hill! Fitment is key like Jon said you don't want it flopping around or squeezing your noggin.

Got my AXEL neck brace ordered up Friday :dblthumb:
Been wearin a DOT motocross full face helmet goggles & an SFI neck support EVER race the last 2 years now :dblthumb:

Looks like the AXEL neck brace should give better support though :dunno:,,,,I will let yall know the first time I wear mine in RATTLER ;D
