What is an acceptable amount of flex per axle on a full tube chassis?
During mock up it looks like my front axles going to be right around 22°. I do believe I'm going to be get more out of the rear. Has anyone measured or I'm I just being anal?

Re: Ramp champ ?

This is with my coil over mounts on the axle pushed as far out towards the wheels as possible for stability.
Thanks Ed

Re: Ramp champ ?

Figure if you get 22-23 front and rear that's 45 overall, which is plenty. You'll be able to drive up something as tall as half your track width and keep all 4 tires down....

Re: Ramp champ ?

If you ain't flexin them axles out to where the sides of the tars are flush with the ground, you might as well not even be wheelin'! I been thinkin' about buyin' an extra set of 30" travel super shox, just for them badass RTI ramps like that one at Hawk Pride....it's taller than the one at Choccolocco. Plus if you break on the ramp, you ain't ever that far from the trailer. :****:

Re: Ramp champ ?

That ramp at HP was my bitch! Only reason Dean is ramp champ is I sold the tractor! It would pull up on the back stop with 107" wb on 39.5's BOOM!

Never thought about it that way. I guess it's not bad for a front axle. It just was not that impressive for 16 inch coilovers.

POST UP THEM RAMP CHAMP PICS!!! :spin:
I thought you were wanting to have a discussion about articulation? I've never heard of anyone measuring the angle of articulation of their axle?

What is the angle of your coilovers? Out at the bottom and narrow at the top causes the vehicle to be more unstable but adds articulation!

Re: Re: Ramp champ PICS!!

I only tried the hawk pride ramp forwards, and my front suspension doesn't have near the travel that my rear susp does.

Yes slightly angled out at the bottom. Not extreme though. Shocks are not In the Pic but you get the ideal.

I was hoping to see some pics from the front or rear and compare angle of axle to frame. I realize you also get "flex" from tires compressing. But like I said today was first time I mocked it all up and it was just a little disappointing looking. I'm sure it is above average though. It is also a low rockwell build so I've been having to deal with my thirds, but I'm defiantly happy how it's turning out for $8000 and a shitty barn build.

Re: Re: Ramp champ PICS!!

My rear shocks are mounted inside the frame rails...so that prolly doesn't help with your application. But here's some more poser pics lol
