Rockwells make your sac swell!

my setup is welded rear and Detroit in front. I'm thinking spools front and back what do you think? There would only be spindle broaching at that point only which is a little cheaper.

That's tru that it would save a lil money....I was welded front and rear so I was thinking I would run the locker in the front this go around....just make it a lil easier running around in 2wd with 54s.

Stud girdle done...ready to put it back in!

We only use residual valves when the master cyl is lower than the calipers. I don't see why else they would be needed????

When I pieced together my one ton jeep 8 years ago, I read so much on the internet that I just went ahead and put them in. So I already have them. I thought I had read somewhere that it helped break chatter on the Rockwells. I just got done plumbing them without the residual valves. Thanks for the quick answers.

Got the last parts for my rear axle in today from OEM! :driving:

What's the deal with those spindles drool

Those are the new 4340 forged spindles ouverson is making. They are supposed to be a lot stronger than the factory ones.

Are we braking spindles now? Or do you have to bore out the spindles for violators?

You do have to bore the spindles for the larger shafts. honestly I don't know of anyone that has broken one. But the cost for boring my stock spindles plus the new seals and the shipping was gonna be close to the cost of one new forged spindle. ..so that coupled with turn around time for boring and the fact that my rig is over 7k lbs....I figured y not since I was building the axle anyway.

I like Ouverson and all but its a damn tragedy that he's making those and they STILL aren't even sealed. If there was a seal you would be almost all the way to not having to run boots.

Bobby Tanner was killing stock rockwell spindles with ease. Switched to these and fixed the issue.

cole, was he bending the spindle or breaking them?? I seam to remember some brake issues somewhere along the way, maybe the spindle was the cause??

I can't remember exactly, I think he bent a few and broke 1 or 2.

You don't have to run boots. O-ring the u-joints and roll out. I've always done that and ran them that way for years (12+) without any issues. O-rings can be found at McMaster Carr.
