I've been wanting a Honda 2000 for a while just couldn't justify the extra coin. So I bought the generec for about 60% the cost. Anybody have any first hand experience with these?
I'm going to put it in the truck maybe for a fan or heater when wheeling overnight. Possibly emergency.
I know.... You get what you pay for but I have 30 days to return.

Re:

Dad had a Honda 2000, the timing belt shredded after one year, he gave it to me and bought a generac. Been using it for a few years now, no problems

I can't speak for the 2000 watt, but I have a 5500. I bought it early 09' during an ice storm that knocked out power for a week and a half. It ran 24/7 for 11-12 days without a hiccup. 6 years later I start it 2-3 times a year, second pull everytime. It gets an oil change and fresh fuel once a year or so whether it needs it or not :****:

I have a Generac 2000, and it is a great little generator. I have never had any issues with it whatsoever. I run it on my camper and my enclosed. I will tell you though, if you expect it to be as quiet as the Honda you will be disappointed. It is quite a bit louder than the Honda, but it really never bothered me.

Not as familiar with the newer small line of generac generators but unless they have changed their quality it should be very reliable. I've had a 3500 for about 15yrs and not had any problems with it and have installed several 12kw and 15kw generators on houses with no problems.

I have a general ix2000. I bought it from my cousin that bought it new. He used it one time after a hurricane for a few hrs and it sat in his garage. He sold it because the "overcharge" light comes on as son as it starts up and produces on power. I've searched and searched for parts or help and can not find anything. All general can tell me is to take it to an authorized maintenance center. I thought for the $100 I paid for it I could throw a little at it and have a decent generator but Im starting to think I'll use it as a wheel chock. Good luck with yours. I hope it last longer then the one I have. :dunno:

The reason I bought it was to run a freezer over night. It would drop down the voltage to far when the compressor kicked on and turn off the freezer. So I can't justify $600 for camping :'(

Just so happened I have been doing a lil looking at some these here lately. You may be one of those people that don't like HF stuff, but they have a nice lil invertor generator like this now. Has the same quiet motor and all as more popular brands. Overall reviews look good.

Look it up on YouTube, there's a video of them running a Miller Tig with it. I've been looking at it as well.
