2nd Gen Dodge 2500 Lift Options

That will work. Thanks for posting the pic. I think with some nice springs (thuren/carli/etc) i can make the ride more manageable. Did you make any track bar mods?

Yeah, torched off the frame mount and made a new track bar out of .250 wall dom with heims on either end. Took almost all of the sloppy steering feeling out of the truck.

I will say whenever the joints on mine start to get noisy I'm going to look into a poly style replacement. The heims really put a lot road feel into the cab and can be annoying at times

Was the bad info you found out about DOR on CumminsForum? I think I remember seeing some bad stuff about them on there...

it was on dodgetruckxtreme forum (which i have never been to until today) but there is a big thread on there from a couple years ago about him. Plus several threads on Pirate and the mention in this thread about his poor customer service. I dont have time to be dicked around.

We are collecting parts right now to do something similar with a friend of mines truck. For the moment we're going to use stock 1500 springs with 2" spacers in the front and a shackle flip in the rear and bilstiens all the way around. We're going to trim accordingly to fit 37's.

I've seen a pic of a stock 2500 with 42's......

Finally got started on my buddy's 2nd gen ram. I got rid of the shitty upper/lower control arms and installed a Ruffstuff universal radius arm kit. I paired that with Thuren 3" soft ride springs and shocks. Rear will be a diy4x shackle flip and thuren shocks. Tires are 39"x15" boggers. Should ride much better once finished.

The truck is a 24v/5-speed.

Old vs new 3" thuren lift springs

new springs and shocks installed

Radius arms

On its own weight up front.

im building an adjustable track bar to replace the stocker. Hope to get it out of my way in a week or two.

Knocked out the new adjustable track bar and mount this weekend. Also installed the tires in the rear. Sits pretty dead nuts level. Almost like when a leveling kit is installed. Perfect stance IMO. The owner likes it as well. If he decides he wants the shackle flip installed, I will do that later. For now the rear will only be getting the new Thuren shocks.

Some specs on the finalized radius arms. The lowers are 39" and the uppers are 18.5" eye-to-eye. The trac bar is 1.5" x .25" DOM with Ruffstuff 7/8" heims. They sell misalignment spacers for a 1-5/8" bracket so i used that for the factory axle mount and 2" spacers for the frame mount.

drivers side is in and painted up.

new trac bar mount pushed forward some. Clears the steering and the stock mount. Gusseted for extra strength.

How it sits with no lift in the back and the 3" lift up front.

Just for comparison, my brother's 2nd gen has a 2.5" spacer leveling kit on 35s and it sits 50" to the door handle. This one sits 51" with the radius arms and 39s.

Re:

Looks good. Mine sits about the same, setup like your brothers.

Are those Thurens for a 3rd gen? I was thinking they stopped making the 2nd gen stuff. Or maybe that was Carli.

Did u push the axle forward any?

Thanks.

They are thuren 2nd gen 3" springs. At least that's what their website said. I pushed the axle about 3" forward to keep the tires out of the cab. I have to do a little alignment of to correct the steering wheel as its currently upside down.

I know you made a new mount, but did 3" stretch affect the steering or draglink?

Steering cycles fine. Factory trac bar was ditched for a 1.5"x0.25 wall DOM and heims. It's now adjustable. I should drive it tomorrow so I'll see how she does.

Drove it around today. Had it up to about 70 and it tracked pretty good. Steering wheel is still a little off and I need to adjust the drivers side lower arm forward some as it gets into the cab at full lock when driving. The passenger side doesn't hit there at all. Need to trim the front bumper back some more but other than that nothing fell off and it felt solid. I'll make the adjustments tomorrow.

How are the road manners with the radius arm setup? did it improve any wandering?
I put about 50 miles on it. Rides much better than stock. It would be even better with a new set of leafs in the back. Tires are new so they have the typical mud tire squirm, but it tracks straight when you let off the wheel.
