It weighs 11.2k pounds and I have 2 3500 pound axles on my trailer. If I move it on a trailer, it's going to Irondale for an engine swap.

Dang, where's all the weight coming from? I know the ih stuff is heavy and would have guessed 6-7k.

Re:

My powerstroke weighs 7700. This is a dually, has 4 fuel tanks, Bed is heavy too. I saw his scales receipt.

There used to be an older guy in gardendale that had a bunch of ih parts and old trucks. His last name is Schultz, my buddy has a scout and got some stuff from him years ago.

That's going to be a cool project. I've had two trucks with utility boxes on them. They are pretty sweet for holding tools, parts, and camping gear. Put a slide in truck camper in the back and it makes an ideal setup. I still have a 8 foot utility box in my driveway if someone wants one

If ur just taking it in for an engine swap, stop pulling ur hair out n call a rollback.... just a thought

Otherwise look at spark... bad coil or plugs or a points issue

Re:

It has a bunch more space in the bed than I thought it would. I am cleaning it out and once the 100 gallon propane tank is out of the bed, I will really have an idea as to how much space there is. The previous owner pulled out both of the fuel tanks and then took out the tank under the bed. I am hoping to be able to run with 100+ gallons of diesel without having to use up the bed space.

Truck weighed 11.2k currently. I'd bet it will end up over 15k. With all the stuff ur gonna pack on lol. 12 valve deserves a good home instead of under a dodge hood.

Re:

I am hoping to keep it around 14k. Key word hoping. If it goes over, just gonna have to pony up for better tires. Might try 19.5s on this as well.

Man that truck is freakin cool! Old iron is where it's at. Awesome find Kel. Good to see another one saved from the crusher. thumb.gif
Thank you sir. I've found my limit with messing with propane. I am going to sit down and actually write down everything I want out if this truck. Maybe not so much pros and cons, but need, want have to haves and wish I had lists. The body work is gonna be last. I have a decent budget for everything else due to selling the Powersroke. Which brings up.....how much do I ask for a 2000 7.3? It has 286k miles. Some dents and dings and a less thank perfect interior. Less than 30k on new injectors, transmission, fuel pump, pcm, every sensor that can be purchased, two brand new alternators and a brand new a/c compressor.

I bought a brand new truck just like that in '71. Chassis cab, 19.5 tires , 304 with a two speed axle. Made a welding truck. Gave $3150.00 bucks for it new. Put 100k miles between than and 76. bought a new chevy than. Gave $5400.00 for it. My how times have changed!!

Love this thing Kel. Can't wait to see you finish this one. Red buggy will look good towing behind this unit

Depending on color and features, I've got a dozen dollars or so I'd give you for that 7.3.

This should slide in the bed to finish that retro look.

That's a cool avion. I've been debating what's all going in/on the bed.

Here is a list of to do items. Feel free to chime in. Gonna try to get all parts together before it is dropped off. Just realized trailer brake controller was not on the list.

I would highly recommend a boost gauge and lift pump fuel pressure gauge. These 2 gauges can really help diagnose any problems that might come up.
