14 bolt axle tube?

I'm building a 14 bolt from axle and have some 4" .500 wall tube in my shop would it be a big deal to mill it down to fit the 14 bolt or jus buy 3-1/2 DOM for this project?

Be really easy in a lathe , and you could get the press fit right that way also.

That only leaves .25 wall left. "I" would just get some 3.5" .5 wall but that's just me.

Yeah I know that's why I'm up in the air. I heard somthing about WOD using 4"

I guess my only reasoning is that from factory, there's more than 1/4" wall at the housing. A beefy truss would definitely help cancel that out. 4" .750 wall would be pretty awesome though.

If you mill out the housing and turn down the tube to equal the balance it'll work!

I didn't know this but the stock chevy tubes are .500 wall

At the housing, yes. I snapped these pics just for you. Go out about 8" and they're only 1/4".

They were calling for nasty storms and that center chunk is the exact perfect weight to hold that fencing down in winds up to 63.3 mph.
