5.3 cam

Its been a while since ive researched cams for the little ls engines....
What are some good choices?
I want a choppy idle
Ill Probably be using a ptc converter to match.
Any real world experience out there...

Looks like you are actually right lol. Everybody, for the most part, offers 4 stages....stage 3 is the best looking to me

That's import tuner culture/marketing bs right there. "Stages" :butt:

All you need is a 30 over three fiddy - 4 hunnerd crank, them camel hump heads, elderbrocs loominum intake, 7-fitty double pumper, AND Hooker-Super Comp-Long Tube-headers. 500 hourse powr.

BTR torquer cam or a truck stage 1 is what you'd want.
Anything over that you're making tradeoffs down low.

I agree the 5.3s are **** down low to start with. I just found the btr "nsr" (no springs required) cams.
Im a sucker for the lope at idle. 5.3 is a 5.3 really.

I recently went with a BTR Stage 2 Truck series for my CJ. Hope to have it on the street/trail in a few weeks and will let you know my opinion. It's as big as you can go w/o changing a converter. The numbers look really good on it as it gains TQ/HP all through the curve. Be really careful when you look at LS cams. Anything big loses all your bottom end. My camaro makes 464 WHP, but is a dog down low. I intend on running a maggy on it eventually to gain that low end grunt of an old school SBC back.
