Check ebay and don't be afraid to drive for the right deal. I had like a 4-500 mile radius on Auto trader and mine popped up 3 miles from the house.

I never heard of searchtempest someone just mentioned in another thread. So, I tried it and found this. I have a 7.4L and been thinking about a diesel and and 8.1L. So I have been looking also. This one is OK, I just don't like the color or the bumpers but to each his own.

Definitely not afraid to travel for the right deal. I found one that i really liked on the other side of Cleveland Ohio for 8,000. But that didn't last long.

Yeah the first one has to much on it that i could do without. Plus it's a little out of my price range. The white one though would have been right in the range!

Update.

I went down to Tuscaloosa AL Saturday and bought a 2001 GMC 2500HD with the 8.1 and Allison trans. ;D

Then when i got back to Nashville I stopped and bought a 98 30ft Sunnybrook camper with the remaining money i had left from the F250.

So far i'm impressed with the 8.1 and Allison! It pulled the camper great! Sure does LOVE that gas though! :****: laughing1

Keep a close watch on the oil in that thing. They are known to use oil.

Yeah that's what i was told. He said it uses 1 quart every oil change.

1qt between oil changes is spot on! They use it from word go. Have 2 of them,1 with 146k and 1 with 176k and they both use a qt between oil changes. The message center light will tell you to "check engine oil level" add a qt. and less than 700 miles later it will tell you to change the oil. Great engines! Both of these have went with no problems other than a crank sensor. Pretty cheap fix.

This one has 185K on it. Sounds like a new one. Has a few issues like it needs a windshield, front pass window regulator, and brakes front and rear. Nothing major. Got it for $7500 so i thought that was a good deal.

Nice buy! I may find myself looking for an 8.1 if/when the v10 craps out. Next big purchase will be a different house with shop, not a $60,000 truck. :****:
