Been on all of the trails closest to the parking lot (15, School bus, Rail Trail, Rattle Rock, Stairsteps, 39, etc). I see there are more black "difficult" trails in the North/East section of the park, but never see any videos or pics of those trails. Anyone have experience riding those trails and are they worth the hour long trip to get there (9, 10, 12, 28,29,31, 8, 23) ??

I think Tony Bolton had been to the park once or twice.
I've heard stories of him handing out $100 bills on the trails. That the same guy? He must know the good trails. :rolf:

I know the trails that "i" prefer to stay off of. ;)

Atomic Ridge and that other one called Walden's Ridge are about the only ones that I know of... But I think the Walden's Ridge is more just like a scare you to death trail because you're going to die on a 70 foot cliff kind of thing... not hard obstacle thing.

I've only been on Atomic Ridge twice and both times were just to do what the other guys in the group wanted to do because we ride all the stuff that I like all the other times.

This was my first trip there...wife was with me and once we got to the top of the trail she said she hated that trail.

Then once we started going down the back side of it which is straight down at a few points she looked over at me and said she really hates this Trail.

If you listen close on the last section video once I finally get around that big rock on my passenger side and I see that big ledge up ahead of me you can hear me yell oh ****.

That ledge is about a little bit taller than a 47 inch tall Tire.... all while going up a pretty steep incline.

Well, on that last section, that big stupid rock used to be OFF the trail on the right side. For some reason it rolled smack dab in the middle of the trail. So while you're climbin' this steep bastard in 2nd gear, spittin' out the volleyball sized rubble rocks underneath you, you hafta climb the embankment on the left side to get around it.

The first time it hung me up, 2nd time I expected it and went around it no problem(felt like **** though cuz I went WAY high on the left and was off camber), but then fearing that top ledge again I tried steering far left and cutting back right. When I did that, I had the wheel at full lock right and it popped a driver front U-joint.

Atomic is a cool trail for 1 ton stuff, and honestly I'd run it a few more times IF it was closer to my usual trails. It's just not fun for me to trailer to a different trail head, unload, drive some gravel/dirt roads just to run that one trail....then drive same gravel/dirt back to trailer, load up, go back to usual trail head and ride stuff that I like.

Now, if you got some 80K 1 ton JK on 40's....hell, that'd be the way to go. But I only got 79K so it rules that option out. :)

Is that Atomic Ridge? If so, you'll be hearing from me when my crowd gets it's next WR trip planned. I want top run it.
My trips always consist of 15. Little Mule, RR,Schoolbus, SS, 3, 39, 40. It would be fun to run some new stuff too.

Yup...atomic.

I love to run all those Trails except that horrible ass rattle rock.

I could run those Trails every weekend all year and not get bored... I'm just a creature of habit and like what I like.

And there's another 2 ledges bout like that as well.

If any of you have started going down the right side of little mule into the soup bowl... It's a little bit worse than that mainly because you have a big cliff on one side that you can die off of.

Sounds like a pucker party!

Just not the kind of trails I enjoy.

A few of the more hardcore people are running the trail backwards now so they're going up all that ****.

One of the last stories I heard about that was one of the bacon guys ripping an entire front axle out from under the buggy.

You basically don't... You trailer up to an alternate parking spot which is up a windy ass Highway ... then take about 20 minutes worth of dirt/gravel trails or you can park at the usual Trailhead and drive about 40 minutes on a gravel road to get to it.

It's just basically in a terrible spot if you're wanting to run a whole bunch of trails in one day
