Guys,
We take a spring and fall trip each year. From our home base in WV we have ventured out to Golden Mt. and Windrock in TN. We've been to Harlan KY several times and Gore, VA in Northern VA. We are aware of AOP in TN and hope to get there soon. However, we are thinking about a longer trip to Northern AL or deeper into TN. We normally wheel for 3 days and most usually run the hardest trails the park has to offer. We're all built on tons, stretched, with 43" tires. What park do you recommend for our crew? We're looking for challenging, but doable trails and 3 days of wheelin.

Any advice you can provide, we would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Kevin

Hawk Pride Mountain Offroad...Cabins, bath houses, RV hookups etc... Plenty of riding there for 3 days

might want to road trip a little and hit up Rausch Creek. great place and tons of wheelin.

I've been there twice and well worth a 3rd time and that's coming from chicago.

Hawk pride
Choccoloco Mtn
Morris Mtn
You could also hit wheeling in the country in a day on your way down to hawk pride. It's a small park with about 6-7 good hard hills depending on weather. Then drive about an hour and half south to hpo and ride the other two days!

myself im not very impressed by the new Tellico, over a mile rde in ur rig to get to camping or a cabin because u cant get ur tow rig their. limited trailer parking and we rode all the hard trails in half a day

What about windrock? Only been there once to watch the race. But it looks like all sorts of badass riding. Hope to take a weekend trip there soon.

I wouldn't say Windrock is "badass".....but I like it. I mean, its the closest place for me to wheel. There's alota land and trails there but really the only jeep/buggy/entertaining trails are(in order of path run): 15, Lil Mule, Schoolbus(or Rattle Rock if you want the harder stuff first), StairSteps, 3, 40, 39. Then you have Atomic Ridge way over on the other side of the BFE which is where all the big dogs would probably be. I've never been, but i've heard enough of "its steep" to not really make it high on my priority list.

There's some 31-35" tire trail stuff over there like 22 and 16 and 12/13 that are good one hand on the wheel cruising/exploring. Same goes for 35 and 36. 42 and 43 are a small step up but still cruising type for 1 ton stuff.

Some don't like the fact that theres gravel road driving to/from each trail, or the fact some trails are just that.....TRAILS with like 1 or 2 obstacles on them. I like that though.

Don't get me wrong, a place like GMP is nice with everything concentrated in a small area....but I still like jus ridin' around in nice weather enjoying the weather/day for the most part. I really don't care too much about 46 epic beatdowns in 30 minutes just to get over an obstacle that I could just back up 10ft and go around. Some like that though.

Sounds like you would be a good trail leader. I don't like going somewhere new just to hit the baddest trail there is. I like seeing as much of the place as I can and hit some good trails along the way. Sometimes the best trips are casual riding hanging out :drinkers: and : :smoke:n a few and takin in the scenery. Any trip I can drive back to the trailer is a good trip in my book.

You sound like good peoples. ;) If you're ever in the area jus give a PM. I got my ignition switch replaced now so I'll be able to at least get it off the trailer THIS time. :)

Will do. Depending on the weather I'm wanting to try to ride the weekend of srrs race down there. Watch the hill climb and ride that evening if at all possible.

THIS!!

the group I typically wheel with is like this as well and it's perfect. we don't shy away from the hard stuff, but love spending quality time on the trails seeing scenery, talking crap to each other and covering ground. trail riding is where it's at in my book

Where at in WV? If your close I would suggest (maybe not for a 3 day trip) coming to Wellsville Ohio its right across form the Mountaineer casino on the Ohio side. Find someone that knows where there going as there are a lot of trails.

yes, we've been to ivy a couple times. like wheeling there. ive heard of wellsville but we've never been there. is there enough riding there for multiple days? im in fayetteville, most of the others in our group are in summersville.
