My father in laws grandfather bought a Jeep and it's been sitting for about 10 years. At their hunting property. Father in law has memories of riding in this when he was just a wee lil lad. They also use to "target practice" from the back seat. We went and picked it up today.

I'm not real familiar with older jeeps so any info anyone can tell from the pictures I would appreciate.

Plans are to try to get to get it running and see what's wrong with it. It's never been abused so I'm unusually optimistic that it may be able to get going with minimal issues. However I'm not opposed to a drivetrain swap if needed.

Man that coil had me puzzled for a minute :ROFLMAO:
Would this be a lgbtq Jeep with that paint job

Got it home.
Pulled the plugs and put some magic oil in cylinders, engine did turn over easily by hand.
Can't find the key so I will have to trace some wires tomorrow.

I could really use some 31ish 15 tires just to roll this thing around if anyone has a bald set sitting around near Bham

Might wanna unkink that lower radiator hose while your at it. Check out earlycj5.com. Tons of information over there about these old cjs

Looks like a late 60's to early 70's cj5. Possibly the ol 225 v6 3 speed with Dana 18 t case

I was thinking around a 66 as the body still has the cut out on the sides which were for tool mounts and such i believe The 70's models were smooth sided I am pretty sure. If that is the tornado six, i am sure the purist jeepers will pay for it.

I just Googled tornado 6 and it looks like that is an inline 6. Sounds like this might be a 225 Buick based v6 or similar. It also sounded like it was a good one if so.

Not a fan of team themed vehicles but Go Gators. booyang

This has been in my in laws family for most of its life and mainly used at their hunting land. It was bought by my FiL grandfather. It won't be sold. The goal is to get it reliable enough for him to take his grandkids for a ride nothing more.
It has problems but I'd love to keep it original. If not it will get a complete drivetrain swap for something a little more modern.

I feel like a Saturday and case of beer and this ole gal would be cutting hot laps in the field. Maybe not DOT legal but riding none the less. I love these ole jeeps.
