Odd Winch rope.

Anybody seen winch rope with a solid core of some sorts? The stuff isn't light like normal rope and when you bend it into a shape it actually retains that shape.

Sounds like a lead line used to keep fishing nets on the bottom. Has a lead core.

I dont know that its wich rope, but I have a spool of it here. It will retain its shape when bent.

I was told it was a safety line for hanging cables.

Interesting. One of our customers (operates AAA company) bought a new rig and we were checking it out and it had that stuff on the winch.

Hmmm, the stuff ive seen was for fishing. I used to scuba dive alot and would find it sometimes out in the sound.
