School me on GoPros

So, Just got a Hero 3 silver edition for Christmas.

Also ordered to Roll bar mount with it.

I know nothing about these little guys, so what are some do's and dont's, tips and tricks, common knowledge.

Also I have a few questions.

For the type of filming most of us do. Camera mounted to rig, action shots, daytime

What is the best resolution and angle to set it to?

Are any of the photo burst options cool?

Do i need to set it to the Protune mode?

Any other features I need to use or turn on?

What is the best memory card? I'm thinking a class 10 64gb Sandisk.

Don't leave it unattended at rides, it will come up missing.


Not sure on the new ones but the old one I would leave on the 1080 setting. That's the same memory card I had and never had a problem from it.

I use pinnacle ultimate studio. Just a heads up but most of the editing programs take a lot of ram to run so if your cpu is older you will have to upgrade. I had to get a new cpu to go with the camera and the software.

And heads up on a skipping vid, if you play off of the sim onto your computer its gonna jump frames like a bastard!

I got one too and just figured out the app. I can do everything the camera does from my phone. Just had to update it. It's a hero3 silver. Gonna try out iMovie on it for editing.
