I just got a 30 ft goosneck. It's a tri axel I want to widen it the full length i think. I have seen it done with angle iron and expanded metal but thought i would see what you guys are doing. I also want to add a dove tail to make loading and unloading easier and get just a little more length. So I wanted to see what and how you guys are doing that?

So let's see pics of what you have done.

I had thought of doing something like this but wasn't sure if they hydro would hold up to supporting half the weight of the buggy?

So I finally completed mine. I built it a bit more sturdy so I could use the added length for supporting the full weight of a rig. and I needed it to be able to lift the full weight of a buggy. I love it. It has a 30k lifting capacity. I do need to rotate my clevis on one end of the rams to get the hoses out of dangers way but now I have a functional 39 ft trailer..

I know the hoses are in danger. I am actually having the clevis rotated to move the hoses inside. I can't point them up because the one hose would hit the deck as it moves up and down.

Re: Trailer tech

They make a real sweet motorcycle trailer with this design. It's actually manually operated like a floor jack. Then has multiple lock pin locations so you can pump and adjust the ramp to your liking then put a quick release pin in place. Then relax the jack so the 3/4 pins support your rig weight.

Sorry I didn't see this earlier. I would have shot some pics to you

Better load it up and scale it.... I bet the tongue is light w the dove loaded..... you want it to be 20-25% of gross

So today was my first test. I loaded one buggy on the trailer with weight centered over the axles and hit the road. I could see when I hooked it to the truck it did make it squat a little so I needed to see if the tongue weight was sufficient to pull proper. I started at 55 for a bit hitting some bumps and turns watching for any notable unusual trailer behavior. It rode as straight and smooth as before I did the mod so I hit the interstate and rode at 70 with some corners etc and the good times continued. I dropped the buggy off to get the gear work done and was nervous a little to have it with no weight but I couldnt tell the difference loaded vs unloaded.

So the goods of the project, it sure was nice when unloading to hit a button and have my ramps drop, and vise versa when loading. It is great to have the additional length. and also great that it turns like a 30ft trailer but is 39 ft long.

I guess real test will be moab next week. 16 hours with three rigs, two full size in front of the axles and the kids on the dove tail.
