Will a Rear Detroit unlock during a Front Dig?

Title pretty much says it.

Will a Rear Detroit (or other auto locker) unlock during a front dig? with brakes applied?

My last axles I had Detroits F&R but no dig capability.

Now on 60's welded and have twin stick 205.
I'm long @ 120" WB...
I'm building a rear 70 and found a cheap ($300) Detroit and would go for it if it'll unlock and make digs work better.

Selectables are out of the budget so it'll be welded or Detroit for the time being.

Yeah it will unlock. My Detroit doesn't tear the grass up at all when I am not on the throttle.

Detroit only lock up under load. That is until you break it then it just does what it wants.

Yes, with cutting brakes.

No cutting brakes.
Normally I'd unlock the rear, usually hold the brakes, but not always, & drive through the brakes with the front.
But I'm welded so it has to drag the outside tire.
Still a tighter turn than no dig but I know (think) it'd be tighter with the rear tires able to turn differentialy (IDK if thats even a word/sp?).

But I wasn't sure how the detroit would behave with input torque from the wheels and not the drive shaft.
I figure it would be like taking a corner while coasting but was not sure.

In my old TJ I had an Atlas and did front digs all the time just because I could lol. In the beginning I had a Detroit in the back and then later I installed a spool. I don't recall there being any difference when moving the front over with either one.

*edit* Also, the rear of your truck is probably not very heavy is it?

Yes, there is a definite front weight bias (60/40?).
And that's about as light as I can make it without major surgery.

Looks like money saved here on a Detroit...
