Ill copy my Facebook Rant over here for the Non Facebookers.

Windrock Park Needs to check their security guards. We were driving down to the office in the BK truck and trailer to load up a RZR around 930 after the event was over when one shined his flashlight to get me to slow down. I might have been doing 20mph if that. (speed limit is 15mph) I hit the brakes and proceeded towards the office. Pulled off to load RZR when the same security pulls up in a RZR, jumps out and immediately gets an attitude with me. I didn't even know he was back there. Was he going to pursue me all the way out of the park? I said look my truck is loud so it might seem like I was speeding but I honestly wasn't going that fast. I just need to load this RZR up real quick and head out. I walked towards the trailer when he said don't walk away from me when I'm talking to you! I thought we were done? I said look I'm tired been up since 6am been filming all day in 100 degree heat and have 5 hr drive. Just let me load up and I'll be on my way. That's when he said "I don't care how far you have to go how about I escort you out of the park and have the local police take it from there. He was becoming more and more confrontational and I continued to keep my cool. I bit my tongue and apologized for speeding in order to diffuse the situation. He finally gave up and drove off in the RZR. I understand it probably isn't an easy job and they deal with a ton of rowdy people. You could clearly tell I was their for work. I had heard from many people that this was a problem at the park but never believed it until now. It just takes one security guard on a power trip for someone to never come back to the park again. A security shirt isn't a crown. You've got to give respect to get respect.

Anyone else dealt with this before? This is just one more Reason why I only come to Windrock for the Races and not to Ride.

Re:

Sadly Matt.....I've seen it happen. Most know I ride windrock 99% of my offroad trips so they're pretty used to seeing me there. So i can't speak without bias on the harassment.

Unfortunately there are so many idiots and inconsiderate people at or around windrock I'm afraid the frustration factor is setting in for most.

Sad that a blatant vendor/film guy would get attituded...but I'm sorry for your experience.

I sometimes sit in the gravel Pavillion and wait on others....or just chill there after a ride and talk with security. It's very sad the stories I hear and how they've been treated.

Most stories from them end in "...man I'm not trying to **** with people...but my jobs on the line when the complaints go rollin in. I wanna have fun like everyone else."

The groups I bring up or ride with don't get confronted...unless something blatant. The last time I remember that happening there was gallon jug of "stuff" being passed around and "smoke" in the air. We could've really been in trouble but was told to "put it up and move on".

Sounds like the way people are treated at a local park. Talked to like a dog for doing things they didn't know were wrong.

I will not go back to windrock unless it is strictly to race and leave. I experienced the park once and decided then I would not go back.

This is sad. The security guys over there do work hard though and have to put up with a ton of **** from people. Ive had a run in or 2 with them myself at events before and about all those guys know me by name. There really good guys for the most part and aint usually like that. Ill go on to say that ive never seen them act like that when its not an event unless your just being a dumbass.

I know the guy in orange RZR. He came busting ass out of woods on me one day. We just shot the **** when he realized it was me.

I wouldn't want to have to try and do there job. Dealing with one jack ass could make for a long day.

I'm not saying they are not doing the job they are paid to do I'm saying the rules are wwwwwwwaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy to strict for me

Had the same thing happen to me , they get an attitude before you even know what's going on , typical rent a cop

He chased me down on the paved road down the hill. He ran my wife who was in her jeepp with my little kids off the road to catch up to me. He acted like he wanted to bust me for drinking and speeding or what ever. Could not find anything . Then he was a ****. I have a feeling it's penis envy.

I was there this weekend with no issues but I've heard nothing but bad things about the security there. Keep up the good work Matt! I bet you lost 10 pounds after you had a shower!! That was a sand storm of dust over and over!! :****:

Edit, Without a rig just watching the comp.

Conditions were terrible, I thought it was a well ran event. I think the hill condition of the second bouncer hill after it got dug out at the top caught them off guard as far as the recovery crew goes. The announcer and sound system was good also. No problem hearing what was going on.

We were there saturday also..... all i can say is im glad the local police didnt set up a road block with a sobriety checkpoint leaving the park........ there would have been ALOT of DUIs. i know the 4 guys behind me had to have drank 48+ beers.

If local of ever did that at aop on any weekend they would make quota for the year. It amazes me the people that drink all day then drive home. I'm all for drinking and have a good time just don't ****ing drive. It's worse at the events. I haven't been to windrock in years but every time I get my cooler looked at. Sucks when everything is tied down and then they want to look.

Re:

I agree on the tied down part. If you can....have them come over to your unload area in the parking lot...or just hold off on final tie down.

I'm a victim of that handle to. I just do the above from now on and it's no big deal.

I usually wait till after T15 to sinch everything down now. It's a good shakedown trail and short.

i had this happen to me as well.

we were on our way back to the truck to get tools during the race and i got blue lighted and was not speeding at all...we rode on Friday and we were checked for permits and the cooler was went through before we went into the park...and it is a REAL pain in the ass when you strap in at the truck and drive 50 yards all to have to get out and go through it again!

this was my first trip to the park and i have to say that aspect of the experience SUCKED! Everything else was great. Things like this makes most people not want to be nice when you get jumped to start with. And just for the record i don't drink.

this definitely makes me not want to come back and see any more of the park, and the only trail we went to was Rattle Rock, and that is not even a drop in the bucket and this place.

The fastest way to negativity impact people coming to support your park is BAD experinces like these.

I totally support the aspect of keeping everyone safe and understand their efforts, however a little bit of friendliness goes a whole lot farther in this type of situation. if they want respect they are setting the tone for the interaction and maybe they should keep that in mind, it will get better results then just being a DICKHEAD to start!

I'm sorry for everyones experience on this. I'm sure the stress and chaos of having an event there doesn't help the attitudes received, but that's still no excuse.

I'm just a peon in the whole scheme of things, but i'll relay everyones concerns in my pre ride / post ride interactions with Security.

I invite everyone wanting to ride Windrock on a NON event day to possibly give it another shot. The park isn't much for bounty hill type riding, but if you like trail riding with some obstacles here there along the way, I think it's a great area. If anyone is unfamiliar with the area or doesn't want to get lost on gravel roads, I'd be glad to tag along and help keep you on the dirt as much as possible.

I would imagine most 1 ton stuff can cake walk most trails there....with 35-37" tire stuff would struggle on a few.

There's definitely some quirks here that aren't encountered at other parks, I know. I can understand how all this can be a large inconvenience to non-locals. The hospitality at AOP was incredible. I'd ride that park every weekend if Windrock wasn't 40min. away(vs 2hrs for AOP)
