About a year ago i got my SAS done on my '90 pickup. Truck had a 3.0 at the time, which i knew from the start i wasn't a big fan of but it ran decent so what the hell might as well give it a chance. Well that chance lasted exactly 2 wheel'n trips. So the 4.3 on pane/ th350/ 205 transplant was under way.

in this photo you can see a crossmember for the tranny/ tcase adapter which will be removed and replaced with something different

still have to:
finish mounting radiator and tranny cooler & run lines
make new turbo 350 crossmember
finish wiring (will be minimal, thanks propane)
run propane lines & mount tanks
do some brake line fine tuning
run exhaust (may have local shop do work)
make tranny tunnel
do some suspension tuning (rework leaf packs)

hope to be on the trails by september

just different.
a lot of area to bear on, but I wouldn't make that my only mount spot. see, I like having my crossmember as one so it ties the adapter housing (where the mounting foot is) to the rear of the case, or to the PTO cover, whichever. that isn't the torqe side, so its not doing a ton. brace the front driveshaft side as well.

i'm try'n to get this thing done. i spent most of my time this week working on the wiring.

my only real concern right now is the limited space i have for the front drive shaft. the top of the drive shaft at the flange of the transfercase is pretty close to the th350 pan. i have a aluminum deep pan on it now, so i may have to remove it and go back to a normal pan and/ or go with a smaller diameter drive shaft so that i make sure i don't have any contact with the pan. any suggestions?

i also think part of my problem is that the yota axles are near as wide as a full size d44 or d60 so the drive shaft angles toward the pan more that it would with another axle.

i've thought about doing a doubler 203/205 or even going back to toyota cases but thats another grand i really don't have right now.
