Work- What you guys do to afford this hobby/sport

After a while of struggling you fine yourself doing a lot of little things to save a $$ here or there. I always pack a lunch for work, drinks too. I stopped at a store the other day to get a cold 20 oz Mt. Dew...the damn thing was $1.89 looked over to find a 2 liter for $0.99. Once you fine yourself trying to save a buck anywhere you can when justified it easily becomes a habit. Extra saving go to the hobbies or something for the kids.
This applies to anytime in ones life. :dblthumb:

There's no real way to afford a hobby. It either makes you money or cost you money.
I have often wondered myself how those guys run the Srrs stuff. You c em break expensive
Parts then back at it next week.
The sponsers that are coming out in our neck of the woods might be helping... You blow two $700 tires at one time and your back doing the same thing next week!? I know just wrenching is time consuming for me, even if nothing major breaks there is always something that needs to be done...

I pretty much go go go go go until the wife tells me to not schedule anything "X weekend".
I got a good energy co. job, but that doesnt get you **** if you arent willing to sacrifice hour after f-ing hour working on your junk in the shop.
Sacrifice son, lots of sacrifice. Hope the work ethic wears off on my son.

I am a project manager in civil construction and my wife makes a good living doing IT work in the banking industry. I made money for a while flipping houses and banked a bunch when the economy was good. Last couple of years have been hard on the discretionay money. However I am still better off than most and cannot complain. Wheeling is expensive but especially when you have to travel to do it, but you only live once and cannot take any of it with you when you dies, so you might as well enjoy it now.

I am an IT Consultant, specializing in a Microsoft product called SharePoint. I manage a team of 10 people at work and meet/present to clients a lot.

;D

I video the crazy drivers in Offroad Motorsports. I hope that I will sell enough t shirts and DVDs to build a buggy. It also helps to have a sugar momma.... I am also a cheap ass and work my ass off.

I make almost nothing selling GM parts. Hence the reason I only spend around $800 a year wheeling... parts, fuel, gates fees, TOTAL. I can afford to go on 6-8 trips a year if I stick close to home and don't break sh*t

Sounds like a bunch of railroaders out here. Fellow Norfolk Southern conductor here. Too bad they couldn't sponsor, I'd hate to see the rule book they would make for us on the trail. LOL
