I think I remember seeing in a thread here a few years ago that some of you guys own/owned one before. I am considering a 5 series in the 2008-2012 range. Good/bad? I might consider the right 3 series but prefer the little bigger 5.

Personally I would go turbo. A little more money but I think money well spent in the long run.

I am in no way a diesel expert but to me it sounds injector related. Get it to a good diesel shop and get them tested.

Nice work! It's been a while since I have been there. What are some good trails that are not on hills? Are there any? Been years since I was there last and seemed like they all went straight up at some point.
