12V versus 24V cummins 5.9L

You can replace the governor spring in your truck's VE injection pump to allow it fuel to a higher RPM than it does stock. Basically gives you a wider usable RPM range. This is a common mod for the 2nd Gen 12v trucks as well.

oh yeah gotta do something it's a dog off the line but once going and the turbo kick's in watch out.Thinking about going to a 16ch(I think that's right)turbo for quicker spooling..
Oh and bigger exhaust 4"

If your going to go through the trouble of pulling the turbo off, might as well buy a used HX-35 to stick on there... It will flow a little more, and spool about the same if not quicker than the one you've got on there...

I put my stocker HX35 on a friends truck and he was really happy with the difference.. Some people think they are precious and worth some money.. But you should be able to find one for pretty cheap, just look around. And the springs for my truck really helped since I have the wide range 5 speed.. But it also made my EGT's jump up quite a bit.. Only seems to be a problem for my particular pump though.

Its the stock turbo that came on the 2nd gens from 94-2002... After i believe 2000-early 2001 the auto's came with the hy-35...

You should be able to pick up a good used one for near nothing...

if I pick up the hx-35 any other mod's I have to put on or can I just put the turbo on and leave everything else stock for now??

do you have a 91.5 or newer? The old non intercooled trucks are a little more difficult to throw that HX35 onto.. If you can do a little fabbing it's easy.. The intake horn is different..

no it's a 93 with an innercooler.

Here are a few pic's of the turbo

What do you guys think of this one?

I think it's risky buying a truck or any vehicle for that matter with that many modifications. If their into it enough to buy all of that stuff then you know they have put all of that stuff to the test and probably alot. It could be raged out from too much hot rodding.......02c..

that is very good point, one of the adds that i had seen on this truck had it going for a lot more and said it was owned by an older guy but i kinda doubt that with all the mods its got

but ya never know with this kind of stuff could have just done it to haul his camper around who knows

Sam, my sister bought a 7.3 with a bunch of mods already done, and the guy barely used it, trucks in great condition, you just have to go and check it out, maybe have a shop look it over, or ask what are some signs of abuse on whatever truck you end up looking at seriously
