• Help Support Hardline Crawlers :

Little Gibby's 45 MB

If they hood's too low, cut a hole in it. We'll put a scoop on it and maybe a raised air cleaner if you need to make the York fit up high. Don't forget that I want the fenders off and put in a tube fender so that should leave some hood height options..

You have a PM. Not mine. Price is right.

So I am still kinda poking along. I got to looking over the rig more--and decided to pull every strand of wire out of the thing--most of the wires were cut anyways and well--it was a HUGE mess(also pulled the fuel and brake lines--well what there was)..

So since we are going to run fenderless--these lil things are are worthless

gmb61.jpg

The body cross supports are all rusted away and I thought they were bolted on--but nope--So with a lil effort--the did fall off..

gmb62.jpg

I still have a lil cleanup work where whats left of the body supports are...

Here is the pedal assy we got from pokey.. As a whole its very nice but I will have to rework it a bit to get outa it what we need..

gmb63.jpg

So I looked and measure the pedal assy and the firewall where its going to sit against--and was origionally going to way till I got the steering column it--but with how the firewall is---there is only one place its going to sit--so the clearance to the steering column will have to be corrected by reworking the arms on the pedals--which isn't a big deal since I was going to rework them anyways..

So with how the firewall is--its going to have to be plated for support of the pedal assy and help with the flex on the firewall..

I just haven't figured out if I am going to use 1/8" or 3/16" plate. I also plan on running some tabs off the plate to wrap around the firewall a bit to help support it.

And here it is all prepped--I even got a template cut out for the plate

gmb65.jpg

I picked up a fiberglass picklefork hood that's in nice shape, in case we need it. The grill I got isn't so hot but the headlight area is in very good shape.

So I got a lil busy again today. So I decided to go ahead and use 1/8" for the support plate--3/16" just seemed too thick.

So got out the plasma and cut it out to the template. Once it was cut and fitted I went and indexed the plate to the pedal assy at the firewall and drilled the holes in both the plate and firewall.

gmb66.jpg

Once that was done I went and stripped the pedals off the pedal assy and trimmed 1" off the front side of the pedal assy and cleaned some of the rust off it.

gmb67.jpg

At this point I went and painted the bare metal areas for some protection and bolted it in place with the pedal assy.

gmb68.jpg

Once bolted I went and welded the top edge and around about 2/3 on the drivers side to really tie the plate into the pinch welds of the firewall.

At the bottom I went and added a couple tabs. The support brace that goes from the frame up the botom of the rig was broken at the top, so I welded it to the plate and added a gusset to help give it some strength.

And here is how the pedal assy looks under the dash--its a tight fit but fits nicely. I also pulled on it as hard as I could and it doesn't move one bit--I like it

So whats a pickle fork hood?

Is the new grill bent up any?

I feel better, I wasn't the only one who didn't know.

The grill isn't bent but it's got more rust that the one that's there now. The only thing better is that the headlight area wasn't all messed up.

Us toy guys aren't supposed to know that stuff :haha:

Hmmm---Is it surface rust or rusted away rust? A nice grill will set this thing off nicely :awesomework:

I grabbed the grill to look at it a little better. It could be a lot worse...

Whaddy lookin' for?

I have a complete running factory motor for this as well as front a rear axles that are in perfectly good shape. I will sell at a very reasonable price. We took out the motor to change the rear main seal and I decided that if the old motor's coming out, I'm putting a bigger motor back in.
