We're just more than 6 weeks out from KoH. We have been working on our new car for months and it's finally coming together. It's really amazing to see the level of detail that goes into an Ultra4 car. These things have to do triple digits across the desert and tackle the hardest trails Johnson Valley has to offer. I'll try to highlight some of those details in this thread going forward.

Historically, Tony's strength has been in his preparation. He's behind this year. I know he would have loved to have had the car done months ago so he could be out testing and prerunning. The decision to build a new car was made late and the whole cycle has been off.

here's some pics from the car's debut at SEMA:

So here are a few pics of where we're at now.

This is the Head Wizard Darren. I don't think anyone wants to count how many hours he has in on this new car!

Stay tuned for more updates. I know I'm ready to get out to the lakebed!

Someone explain to me what is going on with those big belt driven pumps with all those AN fittings? Are they stacked pumps? Oil? Fuel? Hydraulic?

I see it on lots of high end engines. One guy on Pirate was using something that looked similar as a combined oil cooler / hydraulic setup I think. That's what makes me think its stacked pumps. Also explains the multiple inlets and outlets so as not to mix fluids. I know you can buy industrial gear pumps that stack like that for heavy equipment but its not all bling like that. Also the cogged belt since running that many pumps on one smooth groove pulley just ain't going to happen.

it is a drysump oil pump!looking good!!!!!!!

Why does it need so many fittings? And why so firggen huge if all it has to do is pump oil?

The fittings on the bottom suck oil from places in the engine.
The top is the feed out. There is very little if any oil in the pan.
Circle track stuff.

The amount of fittings on the pump are the same as the oil pan, so dry sump with plenty of oil supply lines is my guess.

Crazy how few bends are in that chassis. You could have rented a bender for half a day to get the tubes you needed for it.

Thats a sweet setup...never seen one up close like that.

Strength...and ease of replication in the event of damage!

I know. Kind of makes me wonder WTF I waste so much time on my roller / bender. :)

I really like the lower subframe on it! All link mounts laid out and burnt into the plates. Really wish i knew more about autocad- solidworks- and bend tech.
